NBC Lines Up Another Celeb-Reality Show

Because we can apparently never have enough celebrity reality shows, NBC is currently developing yet another one.
Realizing that perhaps the very out there circus atmosphere was not their forté, producers have opted to focus on resorting to what they do best: partying!
Well, okay, maybe not the Paris Hilton kind of party, but the more formal kind. A typical episode for Celebrity Come Dine With Me will feature one celebrity who hosts a dinner party for his or her famous friends. At the end of the night, the party will be judged on presentation, food, and entertainment value.
Sounds kind of lame to you, too, right? I mean, I love watching celebrities, but watching them eat and be entertained doesn’t interest me all too much. I say that knowing that the show has found “success” in 16 other countries.

A&E Showcases Celebrity Junk
Posted by Wendy Michaels Categories: Reality, Cable, Internet
Finally… there’s a show that promises to showcase celebrity junk! Where do I sign up? When it comes to celebrities, I must know everything—so why not see their junk too? A&E is the network to pull it off, with their upcoming series Celebrity Garage Sale, created and hosted by Illeana Douglas. Do celebs really have garage sales? Well, I can recall Whitney Houston sold a bunch of her junk and didn’t Tori Spelling too? Douglas will uncover the best celeb garage sales in this unscripted pilot—well, at least her celeb friends anyway, which in the pilot is Tom Arnold. Eh, maybe not such an interesting star for the pilot episode, but the proceeds of the garage sale (and in his case he raised $5,000) goes to charity. According to Douglas, “I’ve always been a garage sale fanatic, but the fun of a celebrity garage sale is that their throwaways become someone else’s collectables—like an Antiques Roadshow to the stars.” I’ve always thought Illeana Douglas was okay, but her short web series Illeanarama was a riot. I think she’s got the right amount of spunk to pull off Celebrity Garage Sale. She has most recently been seen in Ugly Betty.

Newlyweds Reach Divorce Settlement
Posted by Wendy Michaels Categories: Music, Reality, Cable/Satellite, News
Newlyweds Nick Lachey and Jessica Simpson have reached an agreement about their divorce settlement—surprisingly enough, Nick will be walking away with less than expected. Perhaps to put things behind him quickly, Lachey agreed to take much less than the 50 percent he’s entitled to. Since Simpson didn’t sign a prenuptial agreement, California law entitles him to half of the assets. At half, Lachey would get $18 million, but he has decided to settle for less, bypassing the need to go to court.
Neither Simpson nor Lachey have withered from the spotlight since the split. Lachey’s recent wins at the Teen Choice awards and romance with MTVs Vanessa Minnillo, as well as the popularity of his heartbreaking song “What’s Left of Me,” have kept him front and center. Similarly, Simpson continues to get attention with her new album “A Public Affair,” her bout with laryngitis, and links to both funny man Dane Cook and musician John Mayer (she’s not dating either of them).
