Networks Team Up for Cancer

Although the nightly competition between Charles Gibson and Brian Williams is quite tight, the two journalists - along with Katie Couric - combined forces today to promote a joint project. In a rare event, the trio hit all three morning shows to deliver the special news. This meant a return to old stomping grounds for both Couric (Today) and Gibson (Good Morning America).
Together they announced that ABC, NBC and CBS will be simultaneously devoting one hour to the same cause: the fight against cancer. Stand Up 2 Cancer, a commercial-free telethon airing September 5th, will aim to raise funds for research.

MONDAY (5/5)
- Two and a Half Men (CBS, 9:00): (The script was written by CSI scribes.) “George Eads (CSI) has a cameo in which a CSI team investigates a death at Charlie’s house.” I know Charlie wanted to stop Denise’s reality show, but this is quite a sweeps stunt.
- House (FOX, 9pm): “House believes that an actor (Jason Lewis) on his favorite soap is seriously ill after observing his symptoms on television, so he decides to intervene.” If I had known something like that would work, I would have kidnapped Smith Jerrod a long time ago.
- Samantha Who? (ABC, 9:30pm): “Sam’s affair with Todd continues while he’s still seeing a clueless Chloe.” I’m sorry—why doesn’t Sam just kick her out of her apartment again? She does own the thing, doesn’t she?
- CSI: Miami (CBS, 10pm): “Alexx is stunned when her son is the prime suspect in a murder investigation, and any help she offers could prove costly.” Buh-bye, Khandi!

MONDAY (12/31)
- Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve 2008 (ABC, 10pm): Dick Clark and Ryan Seacrest will co-host the event. Is Miley Cyrus old enough to be associated with a drinking holiday?
- New Year’s Eve Live (FOX, 11pm): Idol alums Jordin Sparks and Blake Lewis will perform. In just a few short weeks, we’ll start caring about a new batch of idols.
- Tila Tequila’s New Year’s Eve Masquerade (MTV, 11pm): NYC masked ball will include Kid Rock and Mary J. Blige. Has it already been a year since we were forced to watch Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo kiss?
- NBC’s New Year’s Eve With Carson Daly (NBC, 11:35pm): Alicia Keys and Lenny Kravitz will be performing. This may be the first time in a while someone has stayed awake to watch Daly’s show.
