Daytime Dish: Eric Braeden Discusses Young and the Restless Return
While it was inevitable that Victor Newman’s character would return in some form, fans of The Young and the Restless should be happy to know that the actor hasn’t changed.
After nearly a month of negotiations with his bosses (and public discussions with the media), soap opera vet Eric Braeden has agreed to return to the long-running CBS drama. The 68-year-old’s change of heart came just one week after telling Entertainment Weekly that he was done for good.

Paula Abdul Threatening to Leave American Idol
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Music, Prime Time, Reality, FOX, American Idol, Gossip, News
UPDATE: Simon Cowell told Extra, “She’ll be fine. She’ll be on the show. I don’t get a lot of say. I’ve just made it clear that I want Paula on the show.”
Did Ryan Seacrest’s $45 million paycheck leave Paula Abdul with chump change?
Although Paula Abdul declared that American Idol was something she’d always “want to be a part of,” her manager recently told the Los Angeles Times that a return was starting to look doubtful. “Very sadly, it does not appear that she’s going to be back on Idol,” David Sonenberg stated.
According to David, Abdul hasn’t even been given an option to turn down. “I have not received any proposal whatsoever,” Sonenberg claimed. “I find it under these circumstances particularly unusual; I think unnecessarily hurtful. I find it kind of unconscionable and certainly rude and disrespectful that they haven’t stepped up and said what they want to do,” he added.
Could this be why Kara DioGuardi’s fate is still up in the air? The producers might not believe there are suitable replacements for Simon Cowell or Seacrest, but they may be keeping Abdul’s waiting in the wings.
Until the negotiations are finalized, Paula supporters on Twitter have begun adding #KeepPaula to the end of their tweets.

Ryan Seacrest’s Historic Paycheck
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Music, Prime Time, Reality, FOX, American Idol, Gossip, News
American Idol isn’t letting it’s sandy-haired host go anywhere…not for the next 3 years, at least. Ryan Seacrest has finished his contract negotiations and is now the highest-paid host in the history of all reality TV.
Not bad for someone who’s very best catchphrase is “Seacrest out.” Ryan went up from $5 million a season to a staggering $45 million, signing onto the reality powerhouse until 2012. As an added perk, Seacrest’s production company (imaginatively named Ryan Seacrest Productions) will claim more power in the 19 Entertainment family. Seacrest will be working more with Idol creator Simon Fuller as a result.

Ryan Seacrest’s Salary on the Rise
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Music, Prime Time, Reality, FOX, American Idol, Gossip, Renewals, Rumors

American Idol’s Ryan Seacrest is currently negotiating his contract, which could come with a pay hike that promotes him to one of the highest-paid hosting gigs in TV. Simon Cowell was the first to ink a deal for the ninth season of the show, with remaining regular cast members still in talks with FOX, Fremantle and 19 Entertainment.
The three companies jointly produce Idol (this helps explain why Idol has three times more promotion and product placement per episode than some shows see in an entire season), and Seacrest is getting further into the fold all the time. Reportedly, the reality TV mogul is working on a new series with 19 Entertainment and American Idol creator Simon Fuller. This could be the Lindsay Lohan project which has been Twittered about recently…or, it could be any one of the other umpteen TV gigs Seacrest has in the works.

SVU Loses Another ADA, Possibly Lead Stars
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Drama, Prime Time, NBC, News
Law & Order: SVU may be accustomed to changes, but departures don’t usually happen so quickly.
After less than one season on the long-running NBC series, actress Michaela McManus (Kim Greylek) is already out. The former One Tree Hill star joined the program when the show’s last ADA, Casey Novak (actress Diane Neal), left the prosecutor’s office due to controversy.
Greylek, who was sent away to Washington D.C. last month, saw her job temporarily filled by Alexandra Cabot (actress Stephanie March), the former assistant district attorney. Now it appears Kim will be gone for good. Michaela sent the following message to her Twitter followers on March 28: “Will no longer be on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, but would like to thank my fans for supporting me.”
Although it’s unclear whether March will be taking back her role permanently, the vet is scheduled to appear in another four episodes this season.

How I Met Your Mother Cast Rewarded for Ratings
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Comedy, Prime Time, CBS, Ratings

Should someone be thanking Britney Spears?
Not too long ago we were wondering if How I Met Your Mother was going to be renewed. Now CBS is rewarding the show’s cast members for sticking around.
As a thank you for boosting Monday night’s numbers, the network has just given all five actors - Josh Radnor, Jason Segel, Cobie Smulders, Neil Patrick Harris and Alyson Hannigan - substantial raises. Their pay bumps, retroactive to the start of the season, amount to approximately 2-3 times their previous salaries. They will now reportedly rake in anywhere between $90,000-$120,000 per episode.
In addition to a larger check, the five will also have a longer stay. Their old seven-year contracts were extended to eight.

Nigel Lythgoe Responds to Paula Abdul’s Comments
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Music, Prime Time, Reality, FOX, American Idol, News
Nigel Lythgoe couldn’t have picked a better time to leave American Idol.
Over the past week, Paula Abdul has taken several opportunities to criticize her bosses over the Paula Goodspeed incident. In interviews with Barbara Walters and Good Morning America, the reality show judge said those involved with the Season 5 auditions were fully aware of her frightened state. She also claimed that the fan was intentionally let in because the producers find it amusing to cause her stress.
After listening to the stinging accusations, Lythgoe felt it was time to finally speak up. The former Idol producer, who is currently working on NBC’s show, Superstars of Dance, addressed the controversy at a press event yesterday. “You do not take somebody in that room that you believe is a danger to herself or a danger to Paula. That would not enter our heads.”

Is T.R. Knight Leaving Grey’s Anatomy?
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Drama, Prime Time, ABC, Grey's Anatomy, News, Rumors
Although it seemed like we had moved past the Isaiah Washington controversy and Katherine Heigl’s controversial remarks, the backstage drama at Grey’s Anatomy continues. Just over a month after Dr. Erica Hahn’s exit comes word of another possible Seattle Grace departure. This one being a voluntary one.
According to Entertainment Weekly, T.R. Knight (Dr. George O’Malley) has asked Shonda Rhimes to be released from the show - three years shy of his contract’s expiration date. This news comes after earlier rumors that Knight had been skipping table reads and had recently walked off the set during filming. (A source denied that ever happened.)
