Chris Farley Commercial: Tacky or Funny?
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Commercials, Editorial, Gossip, Video,
Is starring in a commercial with your dead best friend ever funny?
Upon seeing this new DirecTV ad for the first time, many of you out there apparently felt the same way me and my husband did: icky. Resurrecting Tommy Boy‘s Chris Farley for a commercial? Is there any scene that company won’t manipulate?
Now what if I told you that the spot was approved by both David Spade and Farley’s family? Would that change your opinion?

David Spade Gives Back
Posted by Wendy Michaels Categories: Comedy, Cable, Saturday Night Live, Gossip, Rumors,
For those of you who thought David Spade was as twerpy as some of the characters he plays… think again. The acerbic funnyman felt a twinge on his sensitivity meter when he heard about a fallen police officer in Phoenix. As a result, Spade donated $25,000 to the family of Officer Nick Erfle. Erfle had returned to the force after overcoming cancer, only to be shot in the line of fire. Spade is from Arizona and felt a hometown connection, saying, “It just struck me as such a rough situation just because cops in general get kind of a bad rap lately and people forget it is the scariest job out there.” Who knew David Spade had such a big heart? I’ve been a fan of Spade since SNL and his films with the late Chris Farley (c’mon, have some love for Tommy Boy!)… and while I’m not so excited about Rules of Engagement, I do love The Showbiz Show.

David Spade Gets Another Season of ‘Showbiz Show’
Posted by Wendy Michaels Categories: Comedy, Talk Shows, Cable, Cable/Satellite, Renewals,
The Showbiz Show With David Spade has been given the go-ahead by Comedy Central for a third season. Spade’s look at entertainment news is always a good bet for a few laughs. There are always some duds, but overall Spade pulls out some good snarky stuff. Comedy Central will air 13 new episodes of the half-hour show, beginning in February. Given the entertainment news format, you would think this type of show would not so much have “13 episode seasons,” but continue to be an on-going show. I mean, entertainment news is happening every day, why limit this type of show to just 13 episodes? Spade commented, saying “I want to get back on the air as quickly as possible so that we don’t miss out. There is too much good stuff going on right now in Hollywood. We have to catch up.”
In other Spade news, he will be appearing in the mid-season replacement comedy Rules of Engagement. The comedy will look at an engaged couple, a married couple, and a single guy, with Spade playing the engaged man’s best friend.
