Daytime Dish: General Hospital Milking James Franco
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Daytime, ABC, General Hospital, Gossip,
James Franco recently held his own with Sean Penn—but how will he fare against actor Steve Burton?
Although he’ll be a long way from Hollywood, the Milk star has has scheduled a trip to Port Charles. Yes, that’s right—Franco will be appearing on General Hospital.
While ABC would have been smart to ask any Golden Globe winner to guest during sweeps, the 31-year-old was actually the one who approached the soap opera. According to a source, James simply wanted to dabble in daytime dramas.
Of course, Franco’s interest couldn’t make the showrunners any happier. “We are thrilled to announce that James Franco will play an integral part in a lengthy run on General Hospital this fall,” Jill Farren Phelps, the show’s executive producer, said. “It’s an honor that an actor of James’ caliber would choose to spend some of his valuable time in Port Charles.”
Franco’s mystery man character will first enter Jason Morgan’s life on November 20. He’s currently scheduled to stick around for approximately two months.

One of daytime’s popular soaps has just been hit with two of the most dreaded words today: budget cuts.
In hopes of keeping Days of Our Lives up and running for at least another 18 months, the sudser’s producers have been forced to make a few difficult decisions. Unfortunately for fans, that means saying goodbye to two of the show’s longest-running characters: Marlena Evans and John Black.
Despite some work on other projects, actress Deidre Hall has been with the 43-year-old NBC program since 1976. Her on-and-off daytime husband, Drake Hogestyn, joined DOOL back in 1986.
