TV Talk: Lower Numbers for Entourage, Longer Episodes for Project Runway

Thomas Jane-Enthusiasm for the men of HBO was down this summer. Viewer numbers for the Sunday premieres of Entourage and Hung were down 25% and 13% respectively.

-Would you be enthusiastic to watch The Office without Steve Carell? The NBC star thinks his eventual exit could bring a “dynamic change” to the comedy.

-Change will also be coming to Project Runway. The Lifetime reality program will expand to 90 minutes per episode when it returns on July 29.

-Expect more drama ahead for The Real Housewives of Atlanta. According to a report, NeNe Leakes - who recently had a nose job - is splitting from Greg, her husband of 14 years.

-The soon-to-be canceled As the World Turns nabbed three Daytime Emmys for acting over the weekend. The Bold and the Beautiful won for Best Drama.

MONDAY (6/21)
  • Saving Grace (TNT, 9pm):  “Grace shuts herself off completely from family and friends as a past tragic event continues to haunt her.” Those sex scenes in Crash are going to be hard to live down.
  • Behind the Music (VH1, 10pm):  “ is profiled using interviews and archival clips.” The unused footage will provide VH1 enough material for a whole new series: Rocky Love.
  • All Worked Up (truTV, 10pm):  “Observing people whose occupations involve communicating bad news, such as parking-ticket writers and tow-truck drivers, and the unpleasant reactions of the recipients.” The first episode will be entirely devoted to BP CEO Tony Hayward.

Friday Ratings: Daytime Emmys Fail to Shine

Even though the ceremony (barely) won its hour, the 35th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards couldn’t muster enough primetime attention to topple a list of repeats. CBS wound up winning the viewers and ended up in a four-way tie in the demos.

Preview Daytime Emmy Nominees Via YouTube

Have you ever watched an awards show and wondered who all the nominees were? Have you ever tuned into the and realized your soaps were all on one network?

Well - if you’re in need of a little more enlightenment, YouTube just might be able to help. The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences has partnered with the website to offer clips of the nominees for this year’s Daytime Emmy Awards. Videos for 13 different categories (57 nominees) can be found on one page.

At the 35th annual event event, CBS will be leading the pack with a total of 56 nominations. (PBS follows with 44; ABC has 39.) The Young and the Restless tops the contenders with 17 mentions while Guiding Light, and Sesame Street are all tied at 13.

Daytime Emmy Nominations Announced

Television AcademyThe nominations for the Daytime Emmys were announced on Wednesday and The Young and the Restless rose to the top of the pack.  The CBS soap opera received 18 nominations and will compete for Best Soap Opera against 8-time winner . Other expected nominations went out to Ellen DeGeneres for Best Talk Show Host (one of 11 nominations overall) and to Alex Trebek for Best Game Show Host. A highlight of the evening will be the presentation of the Lifetime Achievement Award to Carol Spinney—the long-time voice behind Big Bird and Oscar the Grouch.

The Daytime Emmys will air on April 28 on ABC.
