UPDATE: All three captains have agreed to return to the show.
There could be more than bad weather ahead for one of the most popular programs on the Discovery Channel.
Three of the cast members from the Deadliest Catch—Capts. Johnathan and Andy Hillstrand of the Time Bandit and Capt. Sig Hansen of the Northwestern—have released a joint statement announcing their departure from the series.
“We have been through a lot over the past year and unfortunately given the current situation with Discovery we are unable to continue participating in Deadliest Catch. Deadliest Catch’s Captain Phil Harris Dies
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Prime Time, Reality, Cable, News
Deadliest Catch‘s Phil Harris, the captain of the Seattle-based F/V Cornelia Marie, died today over a week after suffering a massive stroke.
The Discovery Channel star - who had been hospitalized in Anchorage since January 29 - was initially put into a medically-induced coma to reduce brain swelling. News of his passing comes just days after Harris started showing signs of improvement.
The announcement of his death was confirmed tonight through a statement by his sons. “It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our dad - Captain Phil Harris. Dad has always been a fighter and continued to be until the end. For us and the crew, he was someone who never backed down. We will remember and celebrate that strength. Thanks to everyone for their thoughts and prayers,” Jake and Josh Harris said on the show’s website.

If you want more Bear goodness, you can either watch him eat a fish eye after the jump, or just simply watch the season premiere of Man vs. Wild tonight @ 9:00 on the Discovery Channel.

Preview Will Ferrell’s Appearance on Man vs. Wild
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Prime Time, Reality, Cable, Video
UPDATE: Ferrell now says he did not drink his urine as previously reported, but does admit to sampling a little cornea.
I always knew Man vs. Wild was educational, but who knew it could also be funny?
On next week’s episode of the Discovery Channel show, actor Will Ferrell brings levity to what would probably be a miserable experience. The Land of the Lost star joins host Bear Grylls on a cold journey through an area far north of Sweden. During their travels, the two men will feast on reindeer eyeballs and chase that down with some nice bodily fluid.
