Elton John: Reality Stars Should Be Assassinated

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Reality, Gossip,

Elton JohnElton John says that reality TV stars should be assassinated.

The 66-year-old singer thinks these kinds of shows - which he has been a vocal critic of - attract "nightmare people" who are just hungry for fame. "With reality television, you get all these nightmare people who want to be successful, when you really want them to be assassinated," Elton said, speaking on BBC World satellite radio.

The "Home Again" hitmaker - whose 31st studio album The Diving Board deals with issues surrounding entertainers finding fame young - thinks there are many talented individuals who end up spiralling out of control because they would "do anything" for fame. "It's about someone who's attracted to fame no matter what. They want fame whatever the consequences, and they'll do anything to get there," he said when quizzed about his album.

He thinks Mean Girls star Lindsay Lohan - who has been to rehab on a number of occasions to combat substance abuse problems, most recently she underwent 90-days of court ordered treatment at the Betty Ford Clinic and then the Cliffside Malibu center - was a "victim of success." He added, "Lindsay Lohan, unfortunately, who had a great career as an actress and as a recording artist, she had a hit album... Suddenly, everything has fallen to bits because of the drugs. Her parents were a nightmare. She has become a victim of success and she wants success, no matter how much [it costs].''

Elton John and Matthew MorrisonMatthew Morrison wants Elton John to guest star on Glee.

The 34-year-old actor thinks that the "Rocket Man" singer would be perfect in the musical drama playing the boyfriend of hard-nosed cheer-leading squad coach Sue Sylvester - who is portrayed by Jane Lynch. "I would love to have Elton John, and I know the part I want for him too. I want him to play Sue Sylvester's boyfriend. Wouldn't that be funny? I think it would be hilarious, I think the two of them would be so funny," Morrison said.

The handsome star has a wishlist of other people he wants to appear in the series and top of that list is Harrison Ford, because he idolized him in the Indiana Jones movies. Matthew - who is releasing his second album Where It All Began - added, "I've always wanted to work with Harrison Ford, he's a child legend of mine. I was an Indiana Jones kinda guy. That's how I always remember Harrison Ford."

Ryan Seacrest spent some time speaking about last week’s “incredible moment” before introducing the singers for the evening and theme for the night. Elton John was the man of the evening, a rock icon who has rubbed elbows with royalty and inspired the likes of Lady Gaga, Madonna and others.

Ellen DeGeneres

UPDATE: No announcements are expected from FOX on Monday.
UPDATE: Jennifer Lopez has reportedly closed a deal to be one of the new judges.

Will it be Chris Isaak or Harry Connick Jr. on American Idol next season? Could it be Isaak and Connick? Or how about this: Isaak, Connick and Jessica Simpson?

These all could be very real scenarios as rumors about a total show makeover grow.

Prior to this week, Idol chatter had primarily been focused on Simon Cowell’s replacement. Then former executive producer Nigel Lythgoe came back into the picture. Then Ellen DeGeneres announced her departure.

At the top of the spectacular, host Ryan Seacrest immediately introduced the President of the United States and his First Lady, Mr. and Mrs. Barack Obama. Two praised the Idol Gives Back event and urged viewers to contribute to the cause. In his typical contemporary fashion, President Obama then gave a message to the Idol contestants: “As Randy Jackson says, you’re all my dogs.”

Ryan then reappeared on stage to introduce the judges and hype up the crowd. served as the host of the event at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium, which was filled with a screaming crowd.

The Top 12 were brought back together for the first group performance of the night, an incredibly weak number. The only big moment in the song was given (predictably) to Crystal Bowersox. Could this show please make it more obvious that they want her to win? I’m not sure the astronauts on the space shuttle have managed to get the message yet - they’re so far away, and all.
