Maura Tierney Surgery Forces Delay of NBC’s Parenthood

Jay Leno’s new show won’t be the only reason why NBC’s had to reshuffle this fall. A new series based on the 1998 movie Parenthood is now being delayed due to a medical situation.
On Friday, the network announced that the program was being pushed to midseason because of “medical evaluation” that actress Maura Tierney was undergoing. Although NBC could not elaborate on the situation, the execs revealed that production would be delayed eight weeks.
Today, the ER star chose to open up about the matter. “In an effort to guard my privacy, it seems that the wording of NBC’s press release has unfortunately caused some confusion and undue alarm about my health. I have discovered a tumor in my breast which requires surgery. I will not know either my exact diagnosis or course of treatment until that surgery is performed. My doctors have all assured me this is a very treatable condition. I’m very optimistic as to the outcome and want to thank everyone who has sent positive thoughts and support. I look forward to going back to work soon,” her statement read.
Parenthood - which also features Peter Krause, Erika Christensen, Dax Shepard, Craig T. Nelson and Bonnie Bedelia - was scheduled to debut on September 23. It’s believed medical drama Mercy will now take its place.

NBC Orders 6 New Shows
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Comedy, Drama, Prime Time, NBC, Gossip

NBC has ordered a very ambitious lineup for the 2009-2010 fall season. The network is rounding out their programming with four brand-new dramas and two never-before-seen comedies.
Ron Howard and Brian Grazer are producing Parenthood, a series based on the film they did together decades ago. Peter Krause, Maura Tierney, Craig T. Nelson, Bonnie Bedelia and Erika Christensen are among the cast. The drama/comedy will explore life with kids…if NBC viewers aren’t already getting enough of that as it is.
Trauma, one of NBC’s new medical dramas, focuses on first-response paramedics (and already sounds doomed). The series is set in San Francisco and stars Derek Luke, Cliff Curtis, Aimee Garcia and others.

NBC Shuffles Programming Schedule
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Drama, Prime Time, NBC, News

Realizing the network has not been receiving the kind of attention it would like, NBC has already decided to change up its fall programming schedule. Starting next month, Wednesday nights will start to look a bit more like a page from CBS.
Although the show has already seen time slots on Mondays and Fridays, Life is now being given a third chance on hump days this season. As of November 5th, the sophomore series will be sandwiched in between airings of Knight Rider and the original Law & Order. This scheduling adjustment will give then NBC its very own crime-related evening.

Idol Offers More Surprises
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Music, Prime Time, Reality, FOX, American Idol, News
Just when viewers thought that Wednesday night results shows couldn’t get any more exciting, FOX’s American Idol came up with another shocker: the spinoff. No, it’s not another So You Think You Can Dance – this time, it’s about bands. Idol has found lots of undiscovered singers over the years, many of whom are now enjoying highly successful careers. When Ryan Seacrest announced FOX’s intent to produce an Idol-esque battle of the bands, the news was actually big enough to trump even a startling elimination: LaKisha Jones. Today’s speculation is not on who will win Idol, it’s what this new show will be like. And…when is it going to be on the air?
