Dancing with the Stars 7: Week 7

DWTS

On this week’s episode of , the producers had one more surprise in store for both the competitors and the audience.

In addition to their solo numbers, the six pairs had to perform in the first team dance. After being split into two groups of three (captains Warren Sapp and Susan Lucci were responsible for the assignments), the teams were then charged with working together on an ensemble performance. Unlike last Monday’s previous group hip hop number, these two performances - a Cha Cha Cha and a Paso Doble - were actually being scored. (Those scores would then be added to the individual totals.)

Who showed us they could work in unison…and who still needed work on their solos? Read on!

If Shannon Elizabeth and Derek Hough Were Still On DWTS

Dancing with the Stars' Shannon Elizabeth and Derek Hough

Hoping to drag out their romance fifteen minutes of fame as long as possible, ’ Shannon Elizabeth and Derek Hough decided to take their partnership to YouTube. Although the real-life couple was booted off the ABC series in Week 7, the two have not yet stopped dancing. In fact, the lovebirds apparently still think about what could have been.

In a 6.5-minute clip (which can be seen after the jump), the former dance partners deliver a dream-like version of the Foxtrot they never had a chance to perform. They also attempt to poke fun at themselves while spending a nauseating amount of time in each other’s arms.

Dancing with the Stars 6: Week 10 Winner

Dancing with the Stars 6 Final 3

On last night’s episode of Dancing with the Stars: Season 6, the last contenders got their chance to prove they were worthy of the finals. In the first ever “face off,” all three couples performed the same style of dance (the Cha Cha) within the same song. This was an opportunity for the viewers and the judges to see how they all tackled an identical challenge. Then in the no holds barred Freestyle round, the stars were allowed to bring whatever their momma gave them.

By night’s end:

  • Cristián da le Fuente earned a 26 for his Cha Cha (an improvement from his earlier 21) and a 26 in the Freestyle round.  TOTAL: 52
  • scored a disappointing 24 for his Cha Cha (a tie with his last attempt) and a 27 for the Freestyle. TOTAL: 51
  • Kristi Yamaguchi achieved perfect scores in both styles. TOTAL: 60

  • Underdog Marissa Jaret Winokur scored a 26 for her Quickstep (21) and a 26 for the Rumba (25).  Total - 52.
  • Kristi Yamaguchi racked up a 28 for her Jive (down from her perfect 30) and a 29 for her Tango (27).  Her total of 57 was the best of the evening.

Dancing with the Stars 6: Week 6

Dancing with the Stars logo

Last week, the elite eight - minus a few exceptions - struggled with the show’s Latin night.  By Tuesday, Marlee lost her timing, Shannon lost her hips and Priscilla lost her place in the competition.

Tonight on Dancing with the Stars: Season 6, the amateurs had to memorize two new dances—one they had never done before and a group country number.  (The latter performance wasn’t scored.)  Were the stars able to please the judges…or did the program’s newest couple hog all the attention?
