Wednesday Ratings: Sour Notes for American Idol
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Comedy, Drama, Music, Prime Time, Reality, ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, The CW, American Idol, Ratings
Did everyone just assume Adam Lambert was going to win? Over 100 million votes were cast for the Idol finale, but less than a third of that figure bothered to watch. Last night’s two-hour extravaganza tied the smallest audience numbers for an ender since Season 1. Meanwhile, the program had the lowest 18-49 performance for a closer…ever.
8pm
- American Idol 8 (28.8 million, 10/28 in 18-49) was down approximately 3 million from American Idol 7.
- The New Adventures of Old Christine (5.7 million, 1.6/5) fell by 800,000; Gary Unmarried (1.7/5) wrapped up with 5.6 million.
- Law & Order: Criminal Intent (5 million, 1.1/3) slid by 500,000.
- Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest (1.2/3) pulled in 3.4 million for ABC.
- CW’s airing of Take the Lead (0.4/1) scored 1.3 million.

This Week on TV (5/18-5/24)
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Action, Comedy, Drama, Music, Prime Time, Reality, Sci-Fi/Horror, ABC, Cable, CBS, FOX, NBC, Showtime, The CW, 24, American Idol, So You Think You Can Dance

(You can view TV Envy’s Programming Schedule here.)
MONDAY 5/18)
- 24 (FOX, 8pm): Two-hour finale. “Jack reaches an emotional breaking point.” I would advise everyone to stay out of head-butting range from Bauer.
- The Bachelorette (ABC, 9pm): Season premiere. “Jillian Harris, the 29-year-old Canadian who was a runner-up for the heart of 2009 Bachelor Jason Mesnick, gets a new perspective on the rose ceremony.” She plans on being much more selective about those she
jumps into hot tubs withhands stems to. - Table for 12 (TLC, 9pm): “The Hayes family embarks on a 420-mile road trip to Canada.” The free health care will make up for the cost in gas.
- Gotti’s Way 2 (VH1, 10:30pm): “While in therapy, Debbie realizes a need for boundaries on her relationship with Irv.” The audience at home will still be allowed full access though.

Wednesday Ratings: Top Model Looks Fashionable
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Comedy, Drama, Prime Time, Reality, ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, The CW, America's Next Top Model, American Idol, Lost, Scrubs, Ratings
The closer Top Model gets to its finale, the bigger the curiosity factor grows. Cycle 12’s audience improved from last week’s numbers and even beat ABC’s 8:00 demos.
8pm
- Lie to Me (7.9 million, 2.3/7 in 18-49) didn’t do as well as last week’s Bones.
- Law & Order* (5.7 million, 1.2/4) did about the same.
- The New Adventures of Old Christine* (5.2 million, 1.4/5) was off by 500,000; Gary Unmarried* (5.5 million, 1.7/5) slipped by 200,000.
- Scrubs (4.7 million, 1.8/6) shrunk by 600,000; Better Off Ted (4.2 million, 1.7/5) was down a 1/2 million.
- America’s Next Top Model (4 million, 1.9/6) raised 200,000.

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Comedy, Drama, Prime Time, Reality, ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, The CW, America's Next Top Model, American Idol, Lost, Scrubs, Ratings
If Lost and American Idol both go up, that can only mean one thing: CBS was airing a repeat.
8pm
- A special episode of Bones (3.0/9 in 18-49) raked in 10.8 million.
- The New Adventures of Old Christine* (5.7 million, 1.6/5) gave up 1.6 million; Gary Unmarried* (5.9 million, 1.8/5) was off by 1.4 million.

Wednesday Ratings: The Unusuals Does the Usual
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Comedy, Drama, Music, Prime Time, Reality, Sci-Fi/Horror, ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, The CW, America's Next Top Model, American Idol, Lost, Scrubs, Ratings
Despite a flurry of promotion for the new series, ABC’s The Unusuals did what most shows do in that time slot: not much of anything. The premiere lost 18% of its lead-in’s audience and made it that much easier for FOX to dominate.
8pm
- Lie to Me (8.4 million, 2.5/8 in 18-49) fell by 600,000.
- The New Adventures of Old Christine (7.3 million, 2.1/7) and Gary Unmarried (7.3 million, 2.2/7) finished with similar numbers.
- Scrubs (4.7 million, 1.8/6) lost 300,00; Better Off Ted (4.2 million, 1.7/5) dropped 500,000.
- America’s Next Top Model (3.7 million, 1.7/5) was down by 200,000.

Wednesday Ratings: Lost Hits All-Time Low
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Comedy, Drama, Music, Prime Time, Reality, Sci-Fi/Horror, ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, The CW, America's Next Top Model, American Idol, Lost, Scrubs, Ratings
As I predicted, Lost was not better off with Ted last night. Even though most shows saw decreases yesterday, the ABC series had its smallest audience to date.
8pm
- Lie to Me (10 million, 3.1/9 in 18-49) fell by 1.1 million.
- The New Adventures of Old Christine (7.4 million, 2.1/7) and Gary Unmarried (7.6 million, 2.3/7) were both down slightly.
- Scrubs (5.8 million, 2.2/7) raised 2.2 million; Better Off Ted (2.2/6) premiered to 5.6 million.
- America’s Next Top Model (3.6 million, 1.6/5) gave up 900,000.

Wednesday Ratings: Chopping Block Fails to Make the Cut
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Comedy, Drama, Music, Prime Time, Reality, ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, The CW, America's Next Top Model, American Idol, Lost, Scrubs, Ratings
Cooking-related shows may serve well for FOX and Bravo, but they do nothing for NBC. Last night’s premiere of The Chopping Block debuted to fewer viewers than Knight Rider‘s finale. (Ouch!) Meanwhile, Lie to Me performed better than expected in its new time slot. The freshman drama worked with American Idol to give FOX two easy victories.
8pm
- Lie to Me (11.1 million, 3.4/10 in 18-49) picked up 900,000.
- The New Adventures of Old Christine (7.6 million, 2.1/6) added on 2.1 million; Gary Unmarried (7.7 million, 2.3/7) rose by 2.3 million.
- America’s Next Top Model (4.5 million, 1.9/6) improved by 600,000.
- The Chopping Block (1.4.4) premiered to 4 million.
- Scrubs* (1.2/3) pulled in 3.6 million.

The 12th season of America’s Next Top Model premiered on a healthy note last night. (That’s good news for the show’s 13th and 14th installments.) Even though it faced direct competition from American Idol, the CW program was up 11% from its fall debut.
8pm
- American Idol (22.5 million, 7.7/21 in 18-49) was down 1.8 million from last Wednesday.
- The finale of Knight Rider (5.8 million, 1.8/5) lost 21% of its premiere audience.
- The New Adventures of Old Christine* (5.5 million, 1.5/4) gave up 300,000; Gary Unmarried* (5.4 million, 1.6/4) fell by 600,000.
- Lost* (4.8 million, 1.7/5) slipped by 200,000.
- America’s Next Top Model (1.8/5) attracted 3.9 million.
