Anna Kendrick Wants Downton Role

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Drama, BBC, Gossip,

Anna KendrickAnna Kendrick is desperate for a role on Downton Abbey.

The 27-year-old actress is a huge fan of many British TV shows but thinks her dream of appearing in the period drama is "inappropriate" as it isn't likely to come true. "I just watched Game of Thrones and the first two seasons of Downton Abbey. I have the most inappropriate fantasies about being on those shows - there's not a part for a tiny American girl in either, but I can dream," she said.

Anna is also a huge fan of talent show The X Factor, and was thrilled when girl group Little Mix won last year. "I have to catch up on Sherlock and X Factor. I loved that group who won last year, Little Mix. During their first performance I wanted to scream at the TV, 'Do you guys know that these are really good, really solid vocals.'"

And TV isn't the only thing Anna loves about the UK - she has "cravings" for English tea: "Every time I go to England the first thing I do is have tea. I crave it to the point where I panic, 'What am I going to do when I get home? I don't have a kettle.' But then the craving disappears - it's like something's pumped into the air."

The singer-and-actress recently made a cameo appearance in the sitcom and though the show's star Jon Cryer wasn't initially confident she would be a success, he was thrilled when she stepped in front of the camera and nailed her part:

"She plays a motor-mouth character, so they gave her page-long monologues. She was lovely, and we had a great time. All week, she was on book [looking at the script] which is understandable. But even when we got within two hours of the show, she was still on book. We were thinking, 'Oh no, Miley better bring it!' And then we did it in front of the audience, and Miley brought it! Miley was just on fire and fantastic."

Miley recently had her hair cut into a daring short crop and Jon thinks her new look is fantastic. "I know her haircut is very controversial, but I lay on the side of 'I love it.' I think she looks fantastic," he said.

50 Cent50 Cent wants to star on Glee.

The "In Da Club" hitmaker thinks he would be perfect for a guest role on the hit musical TV show and hopes producers will write an original character for him to put his acting skills to the test.

"I probably would [consider it]. Depending on what the episode was or what they had planned for it. I'm excited... I just want to work. I want to play something different. Anything other than a rapper, because I don't feel like I'm working if I'm playing that. That's the easy part," the rapper told E! News. Glee has featured an eclectic mix of guest stars in the past including Lindsay Lohan, Ricky Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow, so 50 Cent could become the show's very first rapper.

50 Cent - real name Curtis Jackson - branched out into acting in 2005 and has since starred alongside the likes of Robert De Niro and Bruce Willis. Although he says music is his first love, the 37-year-old star is keen for more challenging film roles in the future: "I have developed a passion for film. I still love music so I write music. I got a chance to explore my new passion for film. I've been lucky enough to get it right."

The 28-year-old British presenter was seen on set in New York City yesterday (01.08.12) sporting full hair and make-up and wearing a blue and red dress for filming. However, it is unclear whether Alexa - who moved here in 2009 - is making a cameo role as herself or making her acting debut as no character details have been released at present. It is yet to be confirmed how many episodes the former model will appear in.

Gossip Girl launched in 2007, and it was recently revealed the forthcoming sixth season will be the last for the drama. Though most of the storyline details have been kept under wraps, it has been disclosed that Serena Van der Woodsen - played by Blake Lively - is to have an eventful series. "Serena has gone off the grid, beyond even the reach of Gossip Girl. Her friends fear for the worst and hope for the best, but even they can't imagine where they will ultimately find her," a spokesperson said.

Alexa follows in the footsteps of Elizabeth Hurley, who appeared in the fifth series of the show.

Johnny Depp to Appear on Family Guy

Johnny DeppJohnny Depp is to make a cameo appearance in Family Guy.

The Dark Shadows actor will return to his title role from 1990 movie Edward Scissorhands for a brief gag in the adult animation. The 49-year-old star initially struggled to get back into character, but found inspiration by watching clips from the film.

"When he was in the booth, he said that he felt like he hadn't done that voice since he did it in front of the camera. [But] he was able to snap right back into Edward Scissorhands once we pulled up a clip from the movie," Family Guy executive producer Mark Hentemann told Entertainment Weekly.

Johnny impressed everyone involved in the show with his performance - particularly the female cast and crew members. "He was amazing - and demonstrated extraordinary patience with all the fawning women in our office who swarmed him," he added.

Though it is not clear when Johnny's appearance will broadcast, the new series of Family Guy returns to TV on September 30.

Benedict CumberbatchBenedict Cumberbatch is making a cameo appearance in The Simpsons.

The British actor landed a voice role in the famous animated sitcom following a chance meeting in Los Angeles: "I was at a meeting in the same place The Simpsons is recorded and heard there was a part going in an episode. I said, 'I hate to muscle in here guys but could I record it?' Next thing, I'm standing in a room with all those famous voices; Bart, Marge, Homer, Lisa."

The Star Trek 2 actor - who shot to fame playing iconic detective Sherlock Holmes in TV series Sherlock - was thrilled to get to be part of the cartoon because he likes to take on as many varied roles as possible. "I like treating every job as the first time and to do that, I'll vary the work, so I'll be a knuckle head and run around with girls and guns, then I'll slow it down and do something different like [Edwardian drama] Parade's End," he said.
