‘The Nine’ Sees It’s Ninth Life
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Drama, Prime Time, ABC, Renewals
Back in November, I lamented the loss of a great show, The Nine. ABC put the series on hiatus right when the mysteries started kicking in. What really happened inside the bank?? I had kept the Season Pass request in my Tivo hoping that someday it would pick up a new episode. After a few months of waiting, I finally hit delete.
Needless to say, I was ecstatic to hear that ABC would air the remaining episodes starting this week. Unfortunately the news is a bit bittersweet. While I’m happy to get new pieces of the puzzle—knowing that six is all I will get is torturous. I hate being teased…but I’m still a glutton for punishment.
Reset your Tivo for this Wednesday @ 10pm.

Is The Nine Down For The Count?
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Drama, Prime Time, ABC, Ratings
Okay – I know that putting a show on hiatus is not exactly a NEW thing. But it’s been a long time since I’ve watched a complete dud, so I’m not used to when it happens to me..especially mid-story line.
So needless to say, I was stunned to hear this morning that ABC’s The Nine was put on immediate hiatus. I mean, I know that the ratings weren’t as high as hoped, but c’mon…..it was a good show! To make matters worse – there’s no exact word at this time when the show might be resurrected.
Arrgggh!!!
How will I be able to sleep not knowing if Eva was in on the whole thing?? And how about those poor lovebirds, Jeremy and Lizzie?? What happened in that bank that forced them to break up? And what exactly happened to Felicia that made her so traumatized???
I don’t like this new position that I’ve been put in and I’m not sure if I will ever get past Stage Denial. A plea to anyone who’s gone through this before: Please let me know what to expect next…

Look for ‘Lost Moments’ to Keep Fans Happy
Posted by Wendy Michaels Categories: Drama, Prime Time, ABC, Lost, Internet
OK folks, now that Lost is on hiatus for 13 weeks, it’s time to curl up in the fetal position and wait for the series to return in February. Never fear… ABC will be spoon-feeding small morsels of the hit show to fans during these long cold weeks of darkness. Day Break, starring Taye Diggs, will be taking the place of Lost, but viewers of Day Break should be on the lookout for what ABC is calling “Lost Moments.” These 30-second clips will show scenes from upcoming episodes and just may reveal, in small bites, what’s ahead for 2007. Of course, ABC won’t reveal what time the clips will be aired during Day Break, thus encouraging viewers to tune in for this new Groundhog’s Day-esque drama. If you don’t happen to watch Day Break, ABC will include the promos on ABC.com the next day.

Six Degrees on Hiatus; Men in Trees Given Full Season
Posted by Wendy Michaels Categories: Drama, ABC, Grey's Anatomy, Ratings
The ailing freshman show, Six Degrees will be taking a little break—with Men in Trees taking over the timeslot. Six Degrees hasn’t made much of a showing in the ratings, which is remarkable considering it follows Grey’s Anatomy. Surely the show must be able to retain some of Grey’s audience. But it hasn’t. And don’t call me Shirley. With the ratings in the dumpster, ABC has decided to pull Six Degrees through December.
Men in Trees, which has been doing well on Friday evenings, will take over the 10:00 p.m. Thursday spot that Six Degrees will leave vacant (starting November 30th). Men in Trees has also been given a full season order, so it’s likely the move to Thursdays will get it some additional exposure. ABC intends to bring Six Degrees back on the schedule sometime in January.

Happy Hour and ‘Til Death—Still Kickin’?
Posted by Wendy Michaels Categories: Comedy, Prime Time, FOX, Cancellations, Ratings
In a surprise move, Fox has requested additional scripts of Happy Hour and ‘Til Death—two new sitcoms seemingly perched on the edge of cancellation. The ratings indicate that both of these freshman series are in jeopardy of the axe, but the network is willing to give them some more opportunities to make ‘em laugh. Media reports are saying that Fox wants three more scripts from each—and we’ll see where things go from there. Both shows air Thursday nights, with ‘Til Death averaging about 6.9 million viewers. Happy Hour averaged under 5.6 million viewers in its three airings. Both went on hiatus because of baseball games on Fox, while ‘Til Death took additional time off when Brad Garrett put the brakes on production because of the quality of the scripts.

First Casualities of the Fall Season?
Posted by Wendy Michaels Categories: Comedy, Drama, Prime Time, Reality, CBS, FOX, NBC, Cancellations, Ratings
While not officially canceled, two shows have received the kiss of death—being put on hiatus. It seems pretty early in the season to pull the plug already, but Fox’s Happy Hour and Justice have already been put on “hiatus” status. Fox is saying that the comedy Happy Hour will return in November, citing the upcoming baseball playoffs and World Series as their reason for shelving the show, if only briefly. Until baseball takes over, Fox will be running a rerun of ‘Til Death during Happy Hour‘s Thursday time slot.
Justice will also take a break, with a repeat of House airing in its place on October 4th. The network will, however, be airing a repeat of Justice‘s pilot on Friday, September 29th at 8:00 p.m. This time will cut the finale of Celebrity Duets short by one hour.
Neither of these new shows really stood a chance against the competition (even though neither is officially canceled yet)—up against Survivor: Cook Island and The Office.
