Hilary Duff Fails to Score for Gossip Girl
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Drama, Prime Time, The CW, Gossip, Ratings, Video
Despite having Hilary Duff on the roster for a night, Gossip Girl failed to deliver for the CW. The network has been getting low ratings for all its banner shows, a bad sign for the entire fall line-up. GG is one of the shows which helped drag the CW out of obscurity, but now it might be vanishing into the background.
This week’s episode brought in only 2.1 million viewers. This matches low numbers brought in by Melrose Place, the highly-touted and newly-revamped series that premiered just this season. The CW has already pulled the trigger on it’s brand-new The Beautiful Life, which was pulled from the schedule after only two episodes.

Barely Legal: Worst NBC Title Ever?
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Comedy, NBC, Editorial, News
I thought Kate Winslet’s double-win at the Golden Globes last night was a stunner, but this one takes the cake.
NBC, the network that chose to eliminate its entire 10:00 time slot next year for Jay Leno, is currently developing a project with the most laughable name around: Barely Legal.
Do we really have to explain why the show’s title would probably overshadow its content? (At least the kind of content an NBC series would have?) Did anyone on the creative team realize what would happen if fans tried Googling the program by that name? Am I the only one weirded out that the comedy stars Hilary Duff, someone who’s barely 21?
And while I understand where the title comes from (the concept is based on the true story of a California lawyer who passed the bar at age 18), that doesn’t make it feel less icky for me. Fortunately, since the show is still in development, it’s possible the network could change the title at a later date. But then again, maybe NBC is banking on the extra web traffic?

Gossip Girl Star Lands Modeling Deal
Posted by Kathleen Kane Categories: Drama, Kids, Prime Time, The CW, Announcements, Gossip, News, Rumors
For someone who plays a character who is completely immersed in the world of fashion, it was only a matter of time before Gossip Girl star Taylor Momsen would bag a modeling deal for herself.
Of course, it was also no surprise that the 14 year old signed with one of the most lucrative agencies, IMG Models, who employs A-list celebrities including Drew Barrymore, Heidi Klum, Liv Tyler, and Hilary Duff.
No word yet as to the details of the contract, but Taylor did spill some of her own fashion secrets: “I love wearing jeans and T-shirts. That’s like a uniform for me. But at the same time, I love getting dressed up. I don’t follow trends with my everyday fashion. I wear what I feel like. Sometimes it doesn’t match and sometimes that’s okay.”

Degrassi Star Comes to 90210
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Drama, Prime Time, The CW, Gossip, News
Yesterday, we told you that Hilary Duff had turned down a possible role in CW’s 90210 spinoff. Had she accepted the offer, the former Lizzy McGuire star would have been an updated version of Brenda Walsh.
Twenty-four hours later, we now know who will be playing Beverly Hills transplant Annie Mills. Shenae Grimes, Degrassi: The Next Generation‘s Darcy, will be crossing the Canadian border to play the theater-loving girl from Kansas. (Seriously - did this ‘Brenda’ also have to be a fan of the stage? Couldn’t they have come up with something more original?)
Fans of Degrassi know that Shenae is perfectly capable of playing the nice girl role. They also know that she’s very good at turning bad as well. So assuming the CW pilot gets picked up, what will this mean for our little Darcy? Maybe she’ll be sent away to Canada’s version of Promises to get help for all her emotional issues…

Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Prime Time, Reality, Cable, Gossip, Rumors
Often the source of tabloid fodder, Nicole Richie has remained on magazines because the world seems obsessed with her weight. Pictures of an emaciated-looking Nicole have appeared in every major supermarket, along with bold headlines that pondered the possibility of an eating disorder. No matter what happens in her personal life (like using her winning ways to tempt Joel Madden away from former famous tween queen Hilary Duff), the headlines always go back to one thing: Richie’s waistline. Now, a slight bulge on her midsection has everyone talking again. Could it be that Nicole Richie, famous socialite and reality TV star, is pregnant? Sure, if anyone would make a great mother, wouldn’t it be her?

Hilary Duff Returns to TV
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Music, Prime Time, Reality, Cable, News
It’s not another Lizzie McGuire, but Hilary Duff is again making her way to the small screen. The actress/singer who was once the world’s most famous tween will have her own reality show on MTV. Titled This Is Now, the show airs Monday nights at 9:30 and features Hilary living her normal, whirlwind life as she tours with her new album Dignity and lives the life as one of Hollywood’s hip. The singer’s security staff had a scare recently while she was doing promotion for the album. During an interview, a man in the crowd made loud, verbal threats to kill Duff. The man was subsequently tackled and taken down by security, and Duff continued with her regularly-scheduled meet and greets, proving that Dignity is an apt title for her album. Fans who have been dying to get a peek at Duff’s inner world have only to tune to MTV to see her in her element.
