90210 May Produce Spinoff

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Drama, Prime Time, FOX, The CW, Gossip

90210With now off the air, we can finally get back to the high school series that kind of started it all: Beverly Hills, 90210.

The FOX show that wrapped up almost eight years ago may have a chance to live on as a contemporary spinoff on CW.  If a pilot - developed by Veronica Mars’ Rob Thomas - is picked up, the new program would find a home on the same network as its New York-based counterpart, .

It is not known how the new cast of players will relate to the alumnae of Beverly Hills High.  It’s also not clear whether veterans will somehow be involved.  But should we see appearances from Ian Ziering and Gabrielle Carteris, it wouldn’t be the strangest thing in the world.  Fans of Degrassi already know how characters can stick around for generations to come.

Decisions on a possible pilot will be made by the end of the month.

‘Dancing With The Stars’ Lineup Announced

Dancing With the StarsThe official lineup for ‘s was announced this morning on .  And despite the ‘leaked’ list you might have heard about this week, here is the correct list as presented by Apolo Ohno, and host Tom Bergeron:

  • Melanie Brown (a.k.a. ‘Scary Spice’) - Baby momma of Eddie Murphy’s latest child.
  • Sabrina Bryan - ‘Cheetah’ girl (I don’t want to know what that means).
  • Jennie Garth - 90210 alum #12 (if you include Ian Ziering from last season)
  • Josie Maran - The supermodel of the female contestants.  I’m already voting against her.
  • Marie Osmond - She’s a little bit country.
  • Jane Seymour - Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman
  • Helio Castroneves - He’s going to drive his partner all over the dance floor.
  • Mark Cuban - If he doesn’t win, he’ll probably just buy the network.
  • Cameron Mathison - A soap star from All My Children.  As if ABC needed more publicity.
  • Wayne Newton - Mr. Las Vegas will have to learn how to share a stage.
  • Floyd Mayweather, Jr. - Apparently the producers felt all boxers could dance.
  • Albert Reed - I hear he’s a model as well.  I approve of this one.

Dancing With the Stars Kicks Off Tonight

Cheryl Burke Don’t forget—the fourth season of Dancing With the Stars begins tonight. Place your bets… who’s going to go the distance, and will dancer Cheryl Burke add a third trophy to her case? Burke won the last two competitions with partners Drew Lachey and Emmitt Smith, but doesn’t feel the pressure to win this time. Burke told People magazine, “It’s about who I’m dancing with and making my partner the best dancer he can possibly be.” Or maybe it’s because the trophy is a hunk of junk. She also told the magazine, “Both [trophies] are falling to pieces, by the way. The mirrors are slowly falling off.” Check out the competition tonight, when she and partner Ian Ziering take to the dance floor. Filling out the cast are Heather Mills, Billy Ray Cyrus, Joey Fatone, Apolo Anton Ohno, Laila Ali, Clyde Drexler, John Ratzenberger, Shandi Finnessey, Leeza Gibbons and Paulina Porizkova.
