DWTS’ Lacey Schwimmer Out with Flu

Another week calls for another substitution.
Although Season 8 of Dancing with the Stars was riddled with celebrity injuries, Season 9 has been hit on the professional side. Two weeks ago, Derek Hough was temporarily replaced by Maksim Chmerkovskiy when he was hit with the flu. Now, Lacey Schwimmer is using up one of her sick days.
On tonight’s broadcast, Anna Trebunskaya will play the part of Mark Dacascos’ partner. Anna originally stepped in this weekend to help the Iron Chef America star rehearse, but her role later increased when Schwimmer’s condition worsened. Unfortunately, this last-minute shuffling only gave the pair two days to learn two dances (the samba and a group paso doble.)
So how is Lacey feeling right now? Well - according to a tweet from earlier today, not great. “Guys I’m super sad to be sick today. Ugh,” she wrote.

So You Think You Can Dance Suffers Illness and Injury
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Prime Time, Reality, So You Think You Can Dance, News, Video
We may still be hours away from the start of So You Think You Can Dance‘s Top 20 competition, but there’s already been a change in the lineup.
Despite postponing Juilliard to appear on the show (and making Adam Shankman cry during the audition phase), contemporary dancer Billy Bell will be off the program altogether. Although the 19-year-old was seen during last night’s pre-taped showcase, an illness has forced him to end his run. He will be replaced tonight by 21-year-old Brandon Dumlao, a hip-hop dancer from California.
According to statement from Bell’s family, continuing with the competition could have meant grave consequences. “We were all very disappointed when we heard the news and Billy was devastated when his doctors told the show that if he continued to dance on the show before he recovered, he could possibly die,” it read. While a specific diagnosis was not mentioned, Us Weekly reports Billy is being treated for mononucleosis.

Hospitalized Leno Forces Tonight Show Cancellation
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Late Night, Talk Shows, NBC, News
UPDATE: Leno will return to work on Monday.
Jay Leno is currently suffering from some big bad voodoo.
This evening’s taping of The Tonight Show has just been canceled due to an absent host. The 58-year-old comedian checked himself into the hospital earlier today after reportedly not feeling well.
According to show rep Tracy St. Pierre, Leno is currently in “good spirits” and working on material from his hospital bed. Although it’s been speculated that food poisoning is to blame, no other information has been released on Jay’s condition.
Ryan Reynolds, wildlife expert Jules Sylvester and musical guest Big Bad Voodoo Daddy had been scheduled to appear on tonight’s program. A repeat will now air in its place.
