This Week on TV (10/26-11/1)

(Make sure to check out TV Envy’s Programming Schedule.)

MONDAY (10/26)

  • Heroes (NBC, 8pm):  “Claire and Gretchen go through hazing, but they’ve got other problems facing them.” They could just be blackballed from the entire network.
  • Trauma (NBC, 9pm):  “Tyler and Boone are called to a Halloween party that has gone haywire.” Every year, someone takes “Dead Man’s Party” literally.
  • Gossip Girl (CW, 9pm):  “Elsewhere, Dan is rattled when he watches one of Olivia’s on-screen sex scenes.” No one wants to think about Lizzie Maguire having sex.

Tuesday Ratings: The Mentalist Has Best Outing to Date

Maybe CBS has a repeat of Fringe to thank? Whatever the reason, The Mentalist hit a season high last night with its sixth episode. The freshman series then helped out Without a Trace’s numbers. All this activity gave the the network its best Tuesday since December ‘07. Unfortunately, House‘s hot demos meant FOX still had the lead last night in the 18-49 group.

Simon Baker8pm

  • (17.1 million, 3.4/9 in 18-49) did the same as last week.
  • (13.1 million, 5.3/14) killed in the demos.
  • ‘s presentation of It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown (3.4/9) had 10.4 million reminiscing.
  • (8 million, 3.1/9) packed on 700,000 more pounds.
  • (1.6/4) returned to 3.2 million.

Extreme Makeover Makes a Comeback

Posted by Wendy Michaels Categories: Animation, Prime Time, Reality, ABC

ABC logoUgh. I don’t know who this is good news to, but the original Extreme Makeover will be coming back to ABC on Friday nights. The show will begin airing next week, October 20th at 8:00 PM. You know the one, where plastic surgery serves as the cure-all for any and all imperfections that their ‘contestants’ (is that what you call them? participants?) need tending to. The crack team of surgeons, cosmetic dentists, hair and makeup artists, and stylists give each candidate the works. It’s cringe-worthy at best, but I admit to watching Doctor 90210 (until they actually show the surgery), so I’m not perfect either. I guess I’m most intrigued by why people feel they need to have all of this “work” done. Extreme Makeover takes it to the limit, however—their spin-off for Extreme Makeover: Home Edition is slightly more palatable because homes are getting the makeover, not people. The show will begin next week, then take a Friday off for an airing of It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown and You’re Not Elected, Charlie Brown. The show will continue through November sweeps. Extreme Makeover last aired in August of 2005.
