Jayma Mays: ‘Glee’ Departure Wasn’t My Choice

Jayma MaysJayma Mays says it wasn't her choice to leave Glee.

The redheaded beauty announced her departure from the long-running musical comedy earlier this year, but has now admitted the show's creators decided to write out her beloved character Emma Pillsbury: "It wasn't my choice. The creators decided to do it. We knew it was coming last year. Some other characters will also be leaving this season. It's very sad to be going, but I understand why they do it. It's about getting new blood into the show. I really enjoyed playing Emma. I don't know how I'm written out yet. I'm so curious."

Jayma recently appeared in Glee's emotional tribute to late leading actor Cory Monteith - who died from an overdose of heroin and alcohol in July - and she recalls the emotional atmosphere on set while making the episode. "It's been really hard. We just filmed his memorial episode and it was a very difficult thing to do. Just being there, you felt the absence of a friend and co-worker. It's been a very sad and difficult year for everyone," she explained.

Glee: Let’s Sing About Sex

Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Comedy, Music, Prime Time, FOX, Gossip, Video,

Not all of our spoilers panned out (TV producers are tricky, tricky animals), but all our expectations were met on Tuesday’s “Sexy” Glee episode. The episode highlighted the tricky world of romantic and sexual relationships, a topic that sorely needed to be addressed.

In the past, the show has portrayed teen sex as a matter of course, presenting the only consequence to be an unwanted pregnancy that tidily disappears in less than a year. Not this time. With the help of Gwyneth Paltrow, the students at William McKinley began to get a sexual education… erm, set to music.

Glee: Blame It On the Pre-Regionals Buzz

Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Comedy, Drama, Music, Prime Time, FOX, Gossip, Video,

Drinking problems are beginning to sweep McKinley High, and this became the focus of Glee’s “Blame It On Alcohol” episode. Principal Figgins (Iqbal Thera) asked club coach Will Schuester (Matthew Morrison) to have his kids perform a number “highlighting the dangers of teenage drinking” at an upcoming assembly.

As it just so happens, Rachel Berry’s two gay dads are on the Rosie O’Donnell cruise, leaving her alone in the house for the interim. Puck (Mark Salling) approached her about having a party, but she initially rejected the idea. It wasn’t until she shared her truly terrible original song, “My Headband,” with Finn (Cory Monteith) that she was willing to consider the idea.

At Finn’s advice, Rachel (Lea Michele) decided to go ahead and throw the party anyway. Horrible idea. But, at least it led into the best cell phone scene ever, which you can watch in the video above (“Noah, it’s Santitany and Artcedes, can your friend score some wine coolers?”).

Glee: Splits and Sectionals

Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Comedy, Music, Prime Time, FOX, Gossip, Video,

Glee’s “Special Education” episode kicked off right away -- no time for a recap in this drama-packed installment. Will Schuester (Matthew Morrison) presented Emma Pillsbury (Jayma Mays) with tickets to the upcoming Sectionals event … but she wasn’t really feeling it. She advised Will not to ignore all the rich talent he has in his New Directions club. This prompted Will to change all his Sectionals plans … and Rachel Berry (Lea Michele) didn’t take it very well.

Will’s decision to feature Brittany (Heather Morris) and Mike (Harry Shum, Jr.) in a dance number, and Quinn (Dianna Agron) and Sam (Chord Overstreet) in a solo didn’t upset Rachel alone. Finn Hudson (Cory Montieth) quickly incurred the wrath of Santana (Naya Rivera), who let the beans spill that she and Finn had a liaison last year … which Finn subsequently lied about to Rachel.

Uh-oh.

Glee’s Cheesus Episode Gets Serious, Spiritual and Tearful

Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Comedy, Drama, Music, Prime Time, FOX, Gossip, Video,

Tuesday night’s “Grilled Cheesus” episode of delivered up the usual laughs, gave us plenty of new Sue Sylvester quotations to bat around and filled millions of households with beautiful singing—but the show went a little deeper than its usual quips, jokes and jaw-dropping solos.

“Grilled Cheesus” tackled some truly heady subject matter: life, death and spirituality. It’s a lot to take in on a Tuesday.

In-between funny one-liners from Heather Morris as Brittany S. Pearce (“I got dropped one whole letter grade because I wrote it in crayon”) and lots of amusement at poor Finn’s expense, Glee explored different world religions - albeit shallowly. But what do you expect from an hour-long show that’s peppered with no less than seven different musical numbers? Keep reading to get the full recap - but only if you’ve seen the episode already!

John StamosIt’s already old news that on Glee, a character which will be introduced to the series this week. But last year, Stamos steadfastly boycotted the musical show because of something Emma Pillsbury (Jayma Mays) once said to Will Schuster (Matthew Morrison).

During the “Acafellas” episode, Emma gives Will a pep talk about having guts. “They say it takes more certainty than talent to make a star,” she explains. “I mean, look at .”

Burn! “I was so mad,” Stamos admitted in a recent interview. “I called the head of the studio.” His anger led him on a self-imposed boycott. “Yeah, I was the only one in the world that boycotted Glee.” You’re telling us!
