CNN Documentary Reveals Poor Journalism

Professional wrestling has long been the red-headed stepchild of both entertainment and sports - dismissed as “fake” for its predetermined outcomes and often criticized for its over-the-top personalities. So it comes as no surprise that when WWE superstar Chris Benoit killed his family and himself several months ago, pro-wrestling’s detractors saw their opening.
Since that day, speculation over the possible, albeit unlikely, link to those deaths and steroids has opened WWE to federal investigations as well as a firestorm of public/media scrutiny. Among the pieces supposedly “exposing” the steroid use of WWE superstars was CNN’s Death Grip: Inside Pro Wrestling, which aired this past week. In this broadcast, former WWE Champion John Cena was asked if he had ever used steroids. CNN showed his frank response as: “I can’t tell you that I haven’t, but you’ll never be able to prove that I have.”
But that’s not how Cena responded to the question. Join me after the jump for his full answer.

‘Apprentice’ Celebrity Contestants: R.I.P.

“Stars” of the new celebrity edition of The Apprentice were seen putting a nail in their coffins on the streets of New York this past week. I’d like to take this moment to hold a proverbial candlelight vigil for the careers of Piers Morgan, Omarosa (did she have a career?), Trace Adkins, Marilu Henner, Stephen Baldwin, playmate Tiffany Fallon, Lennox Lewis, Vincent Pastore and Gene Simmons. I am aware that many of these beloved characters left us a long time ago (I’m looking in your direction Baldwin). I also know that this isn’t necessarily the end for the likes of Adkins and Ortiz. But let’s face it, starring on the “celebrity edition” of any reality show is like having unprotected sex with a Brazilian hooker - it may not mean instant death, but it’s a step in the right - er - wrong direction.
This gaggle of C-listers were seen in New York shilling out hotdogs to tourists during an Apprentice challenge. Apparently former WWE Champion John Cena was among the contestants, but he gets a pass because he is only there due to an injury that will sideline him for up to a year. Among those who showed up to gawk were New York mayor Michael Bloomberg and rotting porn star Jenna Jameson.

WWE RAW Recap (10/8): Shawn Michaels Returns
Posted by David Onda Categories: Prime Time, Sports, Cable, Features

After a five month absence from the WWE ring, “The Heartbreak Kid” Shawn Michaels made his triumphant return to Monday Night RAW. On a night meant to celebrate the WWE Championship reign of the newly-crowned champion, Randy Orton, Michaels would finally get his revenge on Orton, who side-lined the “Grand Slam Champion” with a concussion at May’s Judgement Day pay-per-view.
WWE Chairman Vince McMahon ordered that all WWE superstars congratulate Orton on his tainted WWE Title win the previous night by entering the ring on RAW, one-by-one, and shaking Orton’s hand. First in line, demanded McMahon, would be Triple H, whom Orton defeated for the title in the last of three matches “The Game” was forced to endure the night before.
More on the RAW shocker and match results after the break.
