Kings Pushed to NBC’s Summer Schedule
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Drama, Prime Time, NBC,
Kings has just been banished from NBC’s regular schedule.
After several weeks of failed attempts in the Sunday 8:00 time slot, the Ian McShane vehicle was gently relocated to the network’s weekend calendar. Unfortunately, the freshman drama’s performance there still left a lot to be desired.
Effective immediately, NBC will air repeats of Law & Order: SVU, Southland and Law & Order on Saturday evenings. (Interesting side note: Southland‘s Thursday night spot was once owned by the bumped series.)
The remaining episodes of Kings are now scheduled to play out on Saturdays…in the summer. Make sure to adjust your DVRs between the weeks of June 13 and July 25.

Sunday Ratings: Music Awards Has CBS Singing
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Animation, Award Shows, Comedy, Drama, Music, Prime Time, Reality, ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, The CW, Apprentice, The - Donald, Desperate Housewives, Family Guy, Ratings,
Either country music is in its prime, or viewers weren’t interested in a Housewives repeat. Whatever the reason, the ACMAs were hot last night. Yesterday’s broadcast had its best demos since 2005 and its largest audience in 11 years.
8pm
- The Academy of Country Music Awards (3.8/10 in 18-49) drew in 14.8 million for CBS.
- Extreme Makeover: Home Edition* (7.1 million, 2.2/6) was down 3.7 million from last week.
- The Simpsons (6.4 million, 3.1/9) lost 200,000; Family Guy* (2.8/7) turned in 5.8 million.
- Kings (3.6 million, 1.1/3) gave up another 800,000.
- CW’s airing of Rocky III (0.4/1) had 1.1 million cheering.

MONDAY 4/6)
- Little People, Big World (TLC, 8pm): “Molly gets her learner’s permit, but her driving lessons get off to a shaky start.” Hours of Mario Kart Wii clearly hasn’t helped.
- Chuck (NBC, 8pm): “Chuck’s lfe takes fortunate turns: Not only does his long-estranged father return, but Chuck scores a coveted job with Ted Roark (Chevy Chase), a heroic figure in his life.” The guy who got Christie Brinkley to jump naked into a pool is a hero to many.
- Surviving Suburbia (ABC, 9:30pm): “Cynical dad (Bob Saget) accidentally starts a fire in his neighbor’s home after he reluctantly agrees to house-sit.” That’s one way to make sure he won’t be asked again.
- Mystery Diagnosis (Discovery Health, 10pm): “A newlywed suffers from crippling nausea.” Cold feet is what happens before the wedding.

Sunday Ratings: Family Guy Beams Up the Numbers
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Animation, Comedy, Drama, Prime Time, Reality, ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, The CW, Amazing Race, The, Apprentice, The - Donald, Desperate Housewives, Family Guy, Ratings,
FOX might not have been last night’s winning network (that title belongs to CBS), but it wasn’t due to lack of trying. Yesterday’s Family Guy episode drew a fair number of Trekkies and the best demos of the evening.
8pm
- 60 Minutes/The Amazing Race combined efforts for 13 million (3.8/10 in 18-49).
- Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (10.8 million, 3.6/9) was up 1 million.
- The Simpsons (6.6 million, 3.1/9) improved by 400,000.
- Kings (4.4 million, 1.3/3) lost another 200,000.
- CW’s broadcast of War Games (0.4/1) sucked in 1.2 million.

Sunday Ratings: Weekend Ends with a CBS Win
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Animation, Comedy, Drama, Prime Time, Reality, ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, The CW, Amazing Race, The, Desperate Housewives, Family Guy, Ratings,
Couple a basketball tournament overrun with a President Obama interview and what do you get? A nice way to start the evening for CBS. Despite hot competition from Desperate Housewives, the Eye network won both the viewers and the demos last night.
8pm
- Approximately 16.2 million watched the POTUS interview on 60 Minutes (4.1/11 in 18-49).
- Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (9.8 million, 3.1/8) raised 300,000.
- The Simpsons (6.2 million, 3.0/8) and King of the Hill (5.5 million, 2.6/7) were both up slightly.
- Kings (4.6 million, 1.3/3) dropped 1.4 million.
- CW’s airing of The Mod Squad (0.3/1) attracted 866,000.

Sunday Ratings: Kings is No Ratings Ruler
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Animation, Comedy, Drama, Prime Time, Reality, ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, The CW, Amazing Race, The, Apprentice, The - Donald, Desperate Housewives, Family Guy, Ratings,
One of these evenings NBC will get it right. Just days after witnessing a painful debut by The Chopping Block, the network did it again. Yesterday’s premiere of Kings failed to deliver any power to the Sunday night lineup. CBS wound up winning the viewers while ABC topped the demos.
8pm
- The Amazing Race 14 (10.4 million, 3.0/8 in 18-49) picked up 200,000.
- Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (9.5 million, 3.0/8) did the same as last week.
- The Simpsons (6 million, 2.8/8) remained steady.
- Kings (6 million, 1.6/4) had the lowest demo of any original last night.
- King of the Hill (5.4 million, 2.4/6) added on 500,000.
- CW’s broadcast of Moonstruck (0.2/1) attracted 1.2 million.

This Week on TV (3/9-3/15)
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Animation, Comedy, Drama, Food & Home, Prime Time, Reality, Sci-Fi/Horror, ABC, Bravo, Cable, CBS, FOX, NBC, The CW, TNT-HD, America’s Next Top Model, Apprentice, The - Donald, Dancing With The Stars, Everybody Hates Chris, Family Guy,
(You can view TV Envy’s Midseason Programming Schedule here.)
MONDAY 3/9)
- Dancing with the Stars (ABC, 8pm): Season premiere. “This season, a new feature in the early weeks is a dance-off between the bottom two couples facing elimination.” Steve Wozniak + moon walk = elimination-proof.
- The Big Bang Theory (CBS, 8pm): “The guys’ trip to San Francisco takes a detour once they learn that actress Summer Glau (appearing as herself) is on their train.” If you don’t already know who Summer Glau is, you probably shouldn’t be watching this show.
- How I Met Your Mother (CBS, 8:30pm): “Ted reunites with his college girlfriend (Laura Prepon), prompting Lily and Marshall to reveal how much they loathed the snooty woman.” From what I recall, one can easily bond with Prepon over a quick smoke break.
- Castle (ABC, 10pm): Series premiere. “Well-known mystery writer Richard Castle is questioned by a fiery detective about a serial killer reenacting murders from his books.” Kinda sounds like Basic Instinct, sans a naked Michael Douglas. Or Sharon Stone. Or Jeanne Tripplehorn.
