TLC Sues Jon Gosselin
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Prime Time, Reality, Cable, Gossip

The divorce circus is going to have to add another ring to the drama soon - TLC just jumped into the fray. As if Jon and Kate Gosselin didn’t have enough troubles trying to sever the bonds between them and fending off the press, now Jon’s got to worry about a new lawsuit.
The network announced last month that it would be pulling Jon and Kate Plus 8 from its roster of shows, now featuring the Gosselins minus Jon in a new series dubbed Kate Plus 8. Upon hearing this, Jon Gosselin refused to give TLC admittance to taping sessions, called his lawyer and created quite the media ruckus.
Because of Gosselin’s actions, Kate Plus 8 is “suspended indefinitely.” Previously, the show was supposed to premiere on November 2. TLC’s lawsuit claims the network has lost $30,000 plus due to Jon’s behavior, contractual violations they obviously won’t take lying down.

Jon Gosselin Halts TLC Taping
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Prime Time, Reality, Cable, Gossip
He posted a sign, sent some letters and somehow managed to put a complete stop to one of cable’s favorite reality shows. He’s Jon Gosselin, and he’s going to remain in the center of a media maelstrom no matter how many feathers he’s got to ruffle.
Attorney Mark Jay Heller sent a letter to the network stating that “no production crews are to enter Jon’s family home for any reason.” But that’s only the beginning of it…

American Idol Faces Lawsuit
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Music, Prime Time, Reality, FOX, American Idol, Gossip
Could there be trouble brewing behind the scenes of the world’s biggest singing stage? The American Federation of Musicians has filed a lawsuit against American Idol producers. The damages sought by the union is currently unspecified.
The suit claims that American Idol Productions Inc. and Tick Tock Productions Inc. (a subsidiary) violated a bargaining agreement by underpaying musicians. According to the terms of the contract, musicians receive royalties for re-runs.
Since 2007, however, the soundtrack for past episodes was cut out and new musicians hired to record new music for episodes of American Idol Rewind. The musicians’ union was not informed of this decision.
So, far the powers-that-be at American Idol have offered no comment on the suit.

UPDATE: Kiefer Sutherland Gets 48 Days in Jail
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Drama, Prime Time, FOX, 24, News
In 24 time, Jack Bauer had this legal matter resolved in a mere 10 minutes.
Wanting to quickly put his Sept. 25th incident behind him, actor Kiefer Sutherland pleaded no contest today to a misdemeanor drunk driving charge. Assuming the judge accepts the arrangements of the plea deal, Sutherland will serve a recommended total of 48 days in jail. At the formal sentencing on Dec. 21th, prosecutors will ask that Kiefer serve 30 days for the DUI charge and an additional 18 for violating probation. This was Sutherland’s fourth DUI-related offense; he was still on probation for a 2004 incident.
If all goes according to plan, Kiefer will be able to serve part of his stint in late December (while 24 is still in hiatus) and the remainder after the show’s finale.

Pricey Days for Barker?
Things are dicey for the former Price is Right host, who held the position for 35 years. Bob Barker has been officially replaced by Drew Carey, but new episodes of Price won’t start airing until October 15. In the meantime, Barker seems to be in a bit of hot water.
This won’t be the first time Barker – and Price – have weathered a legal storm. Deborah Curling, who worked for Price for 20 years, has filed suit against Barker and the show’s producers. Curling claims the host and producers retaliated against her, forcing her to quit after she testified against Barker. It was Curling’s job to screen contestants for Price, but all that changed after her testimony in a wrongful termination lawsuit brought against Barker by a production assistant. The suit goes on to say that Curling was demoted and put into an “intolerable” working environment back stage, which forced her to leave the show last fall. Of African-American descent, Curling further claims Price is a hostile working environment where black employees and contestants are discriminated against. Those are some bold claims, and no doubt Curling will bring the entire might of CBS down around her ears.

Breaking News: Britney Loses Custody
Posted by Wendy Michaels Categories: Gossip, Internet, Rumors
While details are still developing, People magazine (and loads of other news sites and blogs) are reporting that Britney Spears is temporarily losing custody of her two children, Sean Preston and Jayden James. Kevin Federline will have custody of the children, beginning Wednesday, “until further notice of the court,” according to the judge at today’s hearing. The specifics have not been made public, but the odds of Brit having custody have become increasingly stacked against her after recent events, including charges against her for a hit-and-run accident, driving without a valid license, and of course… interviews from her former bodyguard that claim the poptart endangered her kids and used drugs. You also may recall that Britney is supposed to have random drug testing twice a week. No word yet on whether this recent custody decision is the result of any testing. There will be another hearing on Wednesday.

Britney Spears Facing Possible Jail Time
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Music, Talent, Gossip, News
Had enough Britney Spears news yet? The pop princess turned tabloid tragedy has a whole new set of troubles. Last week, prosecutors charged Spears with a misdemeanor count of hit and run and driving without a valid license. Britney Spears allegedly hit a car in a parking lot last month. If Spears is convicted of the crime, she could spend six months in jail and be forced to pay a $1,000 fine for both charges. Spears attorneys have not yet commented on the new charges. Paparazzi spotted Spears driving her vehicle in a parking lot August 6, and filmed the singer as she hit another car, inspected her own, and left the scene. This new wrinkle comes in the wake of a court order for Spears to undergo random drug and alcohol testing twice a week, an order springing from her custody battle with former hubby Kevin Federline. Britney will also meet eight hours each week with a parenting coach, who will watch Spears and judge her mothering skills.

CBS Facing Huge Lawsuit from Dan Rather
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: CBS, News
Well-known anchorman Dan Rather is suing CBS to the tune of $70 million, saying the network made him a “scapegoat.” Rather, now retired, had his last few months of TV history marred by a discredited story about President George W. Bush’s National Guard service. Now, Dan’s looking for a little payback, claiming CBS mishandled the story. Rather’s lawsuit names two CBS execs in the suit. Dan Rather was a leading anchor on CBS Evening News, which is now suffering with Katie Couric at the helm. A CBS spokesperson has responded to Rather by saying the suit is “without merit.” Dan Rather narrated a Sept. 2004 report that said Bush skirted some of his National Guard duties, and the former newsman still says the story is true. CBS, however, fired three news executives for airing the story, saying it was neither fair nor accurate.

The Continuing Saga of Britney Spears
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Music, Talent, Gossip
As if the well-publicized divorce and custody battle between Britney Spears and Kevin Federline wasn’t already enough of a carnival show, Monday saw new surprises in the former famous couple’s lives. Tony Barretto, a former Spears bodyguard, was revealed as the “secret witness” that’s been hinted at by attorney Gloria Allred.
The bodyguard was there to allegedly testify to “drug use, nudity and safety issues” on the part of Britney Spears, actions the bodyguard said took place in front of her two children. Barretto, who is a father himself, lived at the Spears home full-time from March to May, and was terminated because – according to Allred – he did not hear Spears when she asked him to pick up her hat. Britney’s lawyer is going to step away from her case after apparently butting heads with Spears over legal strategy. Spears has also been ditched by her manager after only one month, saying that “current circumstances have prevented us from properly doing our job.” Bad press doesn’t help, either. Britney’s album, meanwhile, is still set for its November release date. In other Britney news, a tabloid has reported that Spears was booted out of the Chateau Marmont hotel allegedly for shoveling gourmet food into her face. The report says other guests demanded the once-pop star be asked to leave. This report is unconfirmed by other media sources.

Britney Spears and K-Fed Go Head to Head
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: NBC, Apprentice, The - Donald, Gossip, Rumors
According to reports, all other legal matters have been put on hold, and the well-publicized custody battle between Brit and K-Fed has come to a halt. Everything must due to claims of child abuse, according to Access Hollywood. Attorneys were present in a courtroom Monday to determine what these allegations are, with a county investigation still hanging in the balance. It is not known whether claims of child abuse focus on one or both parents, and it’s still up in the air as to whether investigative action will take place. Britney Spears was pulled over by the police this past weekend for speeding, but reportedly told the officer she was simply trying to escape the paparazzi. Britney is rumored to be under consideration to be The Don’s next potential Apprentice.
