Video: Vince McMahon talks Pepsi Center conflict, Stan Kroenke

With the buzz surrounding the conflict for next Monday night in Denver with Monday Night Raw scheduled to run at the Pepsi Center, where the Nuggets and Lakers scheduled to play Game 4 of the NBA Western Conference Finals at the same time. WWE Chairman Vince McMahon appeared on ESPNEWS to talk about the situation.
Jonathan Coachman conducted the interview with his former boss. Coach mentions that Vince is never one to step down from a fight. Coachman mentions that next week’s Raw at the Pepsi Center was booked in August, but the contract was not signed until April, and as you’ll see, Vince proceeds to talk about the business ethics of Stan Kroenke, saying he had no faith in his team and is now throwing WWE out on their ear.

Tuesday Ratings: America’s Got Talent Does Well for NBC

Despite the disappointments delivered by reality fare this summer (and the presence of basketball game last night), NBC managed to have a great evening with the debut of America’s Got Talent. The show helped the Peacock Network nab a win in the viewers while ABC had a hold on the demos.
8pm

- Deal or No Deal (2.1/7 in 18-49) kicked off NBC’s night with 8.7 million.
- Jimmy Kimmel (2.6/9) warmed up 7.6 million basketball fans; the NBA pre-game show (3.3/10) drew in 8.5 million.
- The Moment of Truth (5.8 million, 2.4/8) was down 200,000.
- AFI’s 10 Top 10 (1.3/4) had 5.5 million movie lovers reminiscing.
- Beauty and the Geek* (0.5/2) trailed behind with 1.2 million.

Sunday Ratings: Theater Awards Don’t Translate to TV

Although Tony Awards telecasts have never been ratings goldmines, last night’s event had to compete with golf and basketball. Yesterday’s contest between the Celtics and the Lakers gave ABC another win in both the viewers and the demos.
8pm

- NBC‘s coverage of the U.S. Open (3.9/13 in-18-49) attracted 13.8 million golf fans.
- Jimmy Kimmel‘s special (8.2 million, 3.2/11) did 800,000 better than last Sunday; the NBA pre-game show (9.8 million, 4.0/12) grew by 1.9 million.
- Approximately 6.2 million theater lovers watched the 2008 Tony Awards (1.1/3).
- The Simpsons* (3.7 million, 1.8/6) was down by 400,000; King of the Hill* (3.6 million, 1.7/5) slipped by 300,000.
- Everybody Hates Chris* (1.1 million, 0.4/1) and Aliens in America* (1.1 million, 0.4/1) turned out similar numbers.

Thursday Ratings: Basketball Courts the Fans

- Jimmy Kimmel (2.9/10) kicked off the basketball coverage with 7.8 million; the NBA pre-game special (8.2 million, 3.2/11) grew from there.
- Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? (1.8/6) tested 6.1 million.
- My Name is Earl* (1.1/4) had 3.5 million entertained.
- Smallville* (1.9 million, 0.8/3) did slightly better than before.

Sunday Ratings: NBA Scores for ABC

- The Simpsons* (4.1 million, 1.9/6) was down by 400,000; King of the Hill* (3.9 million, 1.8/5) only lost 100,000.
- Everybody Hates Chris* (904,000, 0.3/1) was off by 16,000; Aliens in America* (1 million, 0.4/1) was actually up 120,000.
