American Idol 7: The Top 12 Men Perform

Danny NoriegaAmerican Idol predictably opened Tuesday night with a plug for , and more self-congratulatory talk about how this is the best season ever - with the most talent. Judge Randy Jackson quickly seconded this opinion, throwing out a bunch of jumbled slang as he gave this review. Host Ryan Seacrest became contentious with Simon Cowell right away, proving that all the same old clichés will still apply to the show. Thusly, another season of Idol - featuring the most talented performers ever on the show (Seriously, y’all think that?) - began.

Poor David Hernandez got the undesirable starting position, appearing on stage bug-eyed and tongue-tied. His version of “Midnight Hour” was so forgettable for me, the only reason I remember the impression is because I took notes. said David looked nervous, but all in all the performance was “better than I thought it was going to be.” I’ll second that. I feel like this poor guy is just on the show to get voted off - soon.

David Beckham:  The Voice Behind the Man

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Specials, NBC

BeckhamI’m not sure why I’ve never considered him before, but after having watched NBC’s Victoria Beckham: Coming to America special and drooling over the latest issue of W—I have finally moved David Beckham into my ever-changing Top 5.  Which Top 5 would that be?  The list of freebies (ala Friends) my husband can never be upset about.

But despite Beck’s wealth, athleticism, appearance in a suit and ability to sport any hairstyle and still look good—his placement on my list does come with one caveat:  He..must..never..ever..speak.

Why?  Because the minute one word is uttered from his mouth…his hot-ability quotient immediately plummets.  Men everywhere should be happy to know that God helped level the playing field by giving him the whiniest voice to ever grace an incredibly gorgeous man.

For those of you familiar with his not-so-dulcet-tones, here’s my question to you:  Who or what does he sound like??  While he fortunately hasn’t given many soundbites here in America, I haven’t been able to pinpoint during those quick snippets who he sounds like.  My friend likens his voice to a leprechaun, but my money’s with the Geico Gecko.  Votes?  Thoughts?

Will the Idol Men Shine This Week?

American Idol When the sixth season of American Idol began, it seemed the males were going to outshine the ladies hands down. They came, they sang, they conquered. Group night impressed audiences, and surprise contenders on the male side seemed ready to prove that they had definitely earned their honor to compete. And then…Hollywood round ended, and it was time to perform. One by one, the men filled the stage. One by one, Simon Cowell shot them down. Most of the males didn’t seem at all ready for the big stage, the big crowd, and the big TV cameras. Even Paula had trouble finding positive remarks to make -–a rare enough occasion for American Idol. The very next night, the female contestants blew judges (and audiences) away with powerful pipes.
