Preview ABC’s New Version of V
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Prime Time, Sci-Fi/Horror, ABC, Video
And you thought “reimaginings” were just something they did on the big screen…
Later next season, ABC will resurrect one of the classic sci fi tales from my youth. V, a hugely popular miniseries from 1983, will get new life in a new era and on a new network. This second attempt as a full series (NBC had its version in 1984) will once again introduce seemingly peaceful aliens to the inhabitants of Earth. But what do these “visitors” really want from our planet? And are they really reptilians in disguise?
And a note to all you Lost fans out there: Just because you see actress Elizabeth Mitchell (Erica Evans) in these clips doesn’t mean Juliet is gone for good. In fact, Entertainment Weekly claims Sawyer’s (deceased?) love will be seen again next year.
V is scheduled to premiere sometime midseason…just like Lost.

NBC Lays Out New January Schedule
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Comedy, Drama, Prime Time, Reality, NBC, Heroes, Cancellations

Come this January, NBC will be setting aside some dead weight to make room for a few new entries. The network will also also welcome the return of a critical fave.
- As mentioned earlier, My Own Worst Enemy and Lipstick Jungle have both been cut from the schedule. Crusoe, which was recently moved to Saturdays, is also MIA.
- Life, Chuck and Heroes will all get a few weeks off. (The trio will be back in time for February sweeps.)
- Although it was recently banished to DirecTV, Friday Night Lights will live to see another NBC Friday. The drama will return on Jan. 16.
- Hoping to jump in late on the dance show craze, the network will introduce a new reality series from the producers of American Idol and So You Think You Can Dance. Superstars of Dance, a show which is being described as the “Olympic Games of dance,” will begin airing on Mondays starting January 5th.
- Deal or No Deal will take a hiatus while another Howie Mandel-related series gets its start. Howie Do It - a hidden-camera reality program - will premiere on Friday January 9th.
- Momma’s Boys, another Ryan Seacrest produced show (can we say Keeping Up with the Kardashians?), will get a home on Mondays right after Superstars.

Lost Premiere Date Included in ABC Midseason Schedule
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Comedy, Drama, Prime Time, Sci-Fi/Horror, ABC, Grey's Anatomy, Lost, Scrubs, News

ABC’s upcoming midseason schedule will probably look like a giant gift to some…a lump of coal to others.
The good news? The Oceanic 6 will make their return and the Sacred Heart crew (a.k.a. Scrubs) will have their network debut. The bad news? Pushing Daisies and Dirty Sexy Money will both be given (temporary? permanent?) vacations.

FOX Midseason Schedule Includes 24, American Idol Premieres
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Drama, Prime Time, Reality, FOX, 24, American Idol, House, News

In just a few short months, the landscape on FOX will look quite a bit different. In addition to American Idol, the viewers will also see the long-awaited return of 24. (Jack Bauer has been MIA since May 2007.)
To make room for the network’s midseason additions, several programs will undergo adjustments to their current schedule. Here are a few of the programming notes:
- American Idol (which premieres on Jan. 13) will air at 8:00 on Tuesdays/Wednesdays.
- After a combined 4-hour debut on Jan 11 and 12th, 24 will settle in at 9:00 on Mondays. (24: Redemption - a two-hour movie that will bridge Seasons 6 and 7 - will air on November 23.)

Drew Lachey Nabs Hosting Job
Posted by Wendy Michaels Categories: Music, Prime Time, Reality, ABC, Dancing With The Stars
Following in fellow Dancing with the Stars contestant (and former boyband member, come to think of it), Joey Fatone, Nick Drew Lachey landed himself a purty little TV hosting gig as well. And not just any hosting job—a little spin-off from Dancing with the Stars, called Dance War. Hey, if the stars version of a dancing competition worked, why not one with non-celebs, brought to you by the people that made Dancing with the Stars (DwtS)? The show will appear midseason and fill the dance void left between cycles of DwtS, so your dance card will never be empty, so to speak. Lachey—who won the second season of Dancing—hosts, while judges Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli are on hand to get dance teams together and primed not just for a dance-off, but also a sing-off (if that’s a word?). You can expect this little dancing gem to come sometime in early 2008. Stay tuned…

Alicia Silverstone Returns to NBC for Mid-Season Comedy
Posted by Wendy Michaels Categories: Comedy, NBC
This is familiar territory for Alicia Silverstone—a comedy on NBC. Unfortunately, the last time she tried that, with Miss Match in 2003, her series didn’t go the distance. Now NBC is ready to give Silverstone another chance, with The Singles Table, a mid-season comedy where she plays a doctor. She is replacing Pascale Hutton, who played the role in the pilot—she has now moved on to the drama Traveler.
Silverstone’s character has a booming career, but beyond that, has no life. The Singles Table will tell the story of five people who meet at a wedding reception—all seated at a table for the dateless invitees. I love Silverstone, so I’m looking forward to checking this out. In fact, any time Clueless is on TV, I have to watch it. Partly for her performance, and partly for Paul Rudd!
