MONDAY (8/23)
- The Secret Life of the American Teenager (ABC Family, 8 p.m.): “Amy’s friends and family forget about her birthday.” Everyone’s so wrapped up with her sister’s wedding to the oily beau-hunk.
- Miss Universe Pageant (NBC, 9 p.m.): “Global beauties compete in swimsuit, evening gown and interview categories at the 59th annual gala, hosted by Bret Michaels and Natalie Morales.” It’s like Bret almost died and went to heaven.
- Rizzoli & Isles (TNT, 10 p.m.): “A shooter aims for runners participating in the Boston Marathon.” Boston Marathon, biathlon—same diff!

Is the Miss Universe Pageant Rigged?
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Prime Time, Reality, Specials, Gossip, Rumors, Video,
Choreographer Michael Schwandt, who’s worked on the last four Miss Universe pageants, recently spilled a few behind-the-scenes secrets in an interview. Schwandt says that pageant owner Donald Trump - and not the panel of judges - decides which contestants will make it to the final round.
“He pops in the day before the telecast, and we line up all the girls in alphabetical order,” he explained. “He [Trump] basically walks by and has an assistant that takes notes. And it’s just kind of common knowledge that he picks six of the top fifteen single-handedly.”
Of course, the procedure described by Schwandt is not outlined in the official Miss Universe pageant rules.

Awkward TV: Heidi Montag’s Laughable Body Language
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Specials, NBC, Video,
Sadly, this is what our country had to offer the Miss Universe pageant tonight. (Yes - people outside the US can also watch the event.)
Tip: If you keep the volume down, the poorly danced number is just as humiliating/entertaining. (It also spares you from having to hear Yaz’s “Situation” butchered for Heidi Montag‘s lip-syncing purposes.)
After watching the performance, let us know what you think. Would you rather purchase this song, “Body Language,” or “Tardy For The Party” from Kim Zolciak?

Sunday Ratings: Miss Universe Crowned a Winner
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Animation, Comedy, Drama, Music, Prime Time, Reality, Specials, ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, The CW, Desperate Housewives, Everybody Hates Chris, Family Guy, Ratings,
Yesterday’s Miss Universe Pageant was the night’s biggest draw. Unfortunately, the beauty contest wasn’t able to do much for NBC. CBS ended up winning the viewers while FOX won the demos.
8pm
- The debut of Big Brother 10 (2.1/7 in 18-49) drew in 6.3 million gawkers.
- Extreme Makeover: Home Edition* (5.4 million, 1.7/5) sawed off 1.1 million.
- America’s Got Talent* (1.1/4) entertained 4.3 million.
- The Simpsons* (4 million, 1.8/6) was up slightly; King of the Hill* (3.8 million, 1.8/5) picked up 400,000.
- Everybody Hates Chris* (877,000, 0.3/1) dropped by 623,000; Aliens in America* (703,000, 0.2/1) lost 597,000.

MONDAY (7/7)
- The Bachelorette (ABC, 8pm): “In the season finale, DeAnna has a choice to make between the two finalists after taking her two suitors to a Grand Bahama Island and home to Georgia to meet her family.” In the event of a tiebreaker, the most photogenic candidate should always be chosen. Good wedding photos last forever.
- Jon & Kate Plus 8 (TLC, 9pm): “As the sextuplets turn 4, Jon and Kate take them to a bakery to decorate their own birthday cupcakes with the stipulation that they can’t eat them until after dinner.” Cupcakes? Note to the Jolie-Pitt clan. More kids = smaller birthday celebrations.
- Verminators ( Discovery, 10pm): “Jamie has to tackle his fears when he is called in to deal with a black widow.” Apparently someone needs to work on his rochambeau skills.
- Psychic Kids: Children of the Paranormal (A&E, 10pm): “A story of ReAnna Kelly, a girl supposedly visited by spirits, including that of her deceased grandmother, jazz singer Nina Simone.” There are times when hearing the song ‘Sinnerman’ is not so cool.
