Reviews of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, the much-anticipated final installment to J.K. Rowling’s boy wizard saga, appeared in two newspapers on Thursday. The problem is, the book isn’t supposed to be sold until 12:01 am July 21, 2007. The New York Times and Baltimore Sun both published reviews of the book, allegedly angering series creator/writer J.K. Rowling. The New York Times claims its copy of Deathly Hallows was purchased in the city on Wednesday, and the Sun assured its readers the book their paper obtained was “through legal and ordinary means.” Yet, nearly everyone in the country has pre-ordered the book or is waiting, with baited breath, for its release – and none of them have managed to get advanced copies.

Famed Romance Author Kathleen Woodiwiss Turns Her Last Page
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Talent, Gossip, News
Kathleen E. Woodiwiss, the author responsible for a bevy of best-selling, steamy romance titles, has passed away at the age of 68. The writer’s first book, The Flame and the Flower, was an instant best seller in 1972, and Woodiwiss has been turning out regular titles ever since. Woodiwiss died of cancer in Minnesota last Friday, according to son Sean. Over the past thirty-five years, Woodiwiss published thirteen novels – every single one of which made it to the New York Times best seller list. Woodiwiss was known for turning out detailed, thick novels in the 600-page range, setting her apart in an industry that was known for much skinnier volumes. She received a lifetime achievement award from the Romance Writers of America in 1988. Her last book, Everlasting, will hit the shelves in October 2007.
