ABC won another Sunday night - and surprisingly Oprah wasn’t the network’s biggest contributor.

8pm
- Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (12 million, 4.1/11 in 18-49) was the night’s top show.
- Dateline (1.9/6) averaged 8 million over two hours.
- Both The Simpsons* (6.6 million, 3.0/9) and King of the Hill (6 million, 2.8/7) saw losses.
- Big Brother (6.3 million, 2.3/6) was down slightly.
- Everybody Hates Chris (1.1 million, 0.5/1) and Aliens in America (900,000, 0.4/1) also took small blows.

Here Come the Newlyweds

Throw Big Brother 9, The Newlywed Game and those gag-inducing eHarmony commercials into a blender and what do you get? You get ABC’s new “romantic comedy” reality show, Here Come the Newlyweds. ABC already airs Wife Swap, Supernanny and The Bachelor—did we really need yet another show to convince skittish singles to flee into the woods?
The premise of Here Come the Newlyweds is fairly straightforward. Seven recently married couples live together and compete for a nest egg worth hundreds of thousands of dollars. The season will air over six episodes. As ABC’s website claims, “Each couple faces a variety of mental and physical challenges which will test the love and passion they have for one another as well as their competitive spirit.” At the end of each episode, one couple is voted out by the others. The last marriage standing wins the grand prize.

Pam Anderson, Rick Salomon Cancel Series
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Reality, Cable, Gossip
Plans for an E! reality series featuring newlyweds Pamela Anderson and Rick Salomon have been canceled. Pamela wrote on her Web site that she did consider doing the show - which wasn’t going to feature any of her children or her family life - but has since had second thoughts.
The couple, newly married in October, “fell in love” as a result of a game of strip poker. Sexual favors were called for, Pam performed them, and evidently affection followed. Anderson called the experience “romantic,” which is actually a little tragic.
There is still a chance the E! show could still go forward, as Anderson has been known to change her mind several times on the same topic in the past.

Newlyweds Reach Divorce Settlement
Posted by Wendy Michaels Categories: Music, Reality, Cable/Satellite, News
Newlyweds Nick Lachey and Jessica Simpson have reached an agreement about their divorce settlement—surprisingly enough, Nick will be walking away with less than expected. Perhaps to put things behind him quickly, Lachey agreed to take much less than the 50 percent he’s entitled to. Since Simpson didn’t sign a prenuptial agreement, California law entitles him to half of the assets. At half, Lachey would get $18 million, but he has decided to settle for less, bypassing the need to go to court.
Neither Simpson nor Lachey have withered from the spotlight since the split. Lachey’s recent wins at the Teen Choice awards and romance with MTVs Vanessa Minnillo, as well as the popularity of his heartbreaking song “What’s Left of Me,” have kept him front and center. Similarly, Simpson continues to get attention with her new album “A Public Affair,” her bout with laryngitis, and links to both funny man Dane Cook and musician John Mayer (she’s not dating either of them).
