Charlie Sheen Up For American Idol

Charlie SheenCharlie Sheen wants to be an American Idol judge.

The Anger Management star says he would consider joining the judging panel of the singing show if the money was good enough and program bosses donated part of his salary to charity, after producer Nigel Lythgoe said he wanted him to get involved.

"If the numbers move the needle AND Idol matches 20% of my weekly salary for Autism Speaks, JDRF, and the Boys and Girls Club ... then the hell with it. As we say, pour the smoke. (sic)" he said.

However, the gossip website reports that the actor would only agree to a deal if FX, which airs Anger Management, were happy with him appearing on Fox.

American Idol is currently judged by Jennifer Lopez, Steven Tyler and Randy Jackson and though there is speculation the panel is set for some changes, Katy Perry won't be anyone's replacement.

Is Jennifer Lopez Leaving American Idol?

Jennifer LopezJennifer Lopez is reportedly leaving American Idol. The "On The Floor" singer is to step down from the judging panel of the talent show after two years because she is too busy with other commitments, it has been claimed.

"There is just too much going on for her right now," a source told US Weekly.

Jennifer- who will embark on a 20-date tour of North and Latin America this summer and is currently recording a new album - is "forever grateful" for her time on the show and is upset about leaving. "She regrets she can't stay on the show. It's been an incredible experience and she is forever grateful that she did it," the source added.

Despite the claims, American Idol executive producer Nigel Lythgoe has insisted Jennifer's departure is not definite and he would love for her to stay on the show. "We want her back. I want her back. I know how much she loves doing the show and how much she cares for the kids. [But] It's a business. She has to weigh everything. I know she's gotten lots of offers to do movies and other things," he said.

LeAnn Rimes Steps Closer to X Factor Job

LeAnn RimesLeAnn Rimes has stepped closer to a job on The X Factor judging panel.

The "Can't Fight The Moonlight" hitmaker - who is believed to be filling one of the spots left vacant by axed judges Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger - reportedly spent all day Wednesday locked in a secret meeting with show chief Nigel Lythgoe.

While fellow X Factor boss Simon Cowell was not present, it was said to be a "great meeting," X17online.com reports.

In addition to her 18 years in the music business, LeAnn brings with her the accolade of being the younger Grammy winner in history at the age of just 14.

While the 29-year-old singer will find out whether she has landed the lucrative gig in the next three weeks, it is also thought troubled star Britney Spears is being lined up to join the panel: "Britney has had a tough few years but this would put her back at the very top. She would be great for the show and it could be great for her. In terms of excitement and intrigue Britney would top them all," an insider said.

Quote of the Day: Nigel Lythgoe on Idol After Simon Cowell

Simon Cowell

"We've had some incredible country voices -- in truth, Simon would have gotten rid of them straight-away because he wasn't a country fan. This season we have a 16-year-old kid with an incredible voice and a jazz kid who does this fabulous scat-singing. Again, we wouldn't have had him on the show because Simon would have said, 'He's not an American Idol! Get rid of him!' ... What you are definitely going to get this season is an American voice and American music."

Mia Michaels Replaces Mary Murphy as SYTYCD Judge

So You Think You Can Dance

Attention passengers - your ride aboard the “hot tamale train” is about to come to an end.

It was announced today that even more changes will be coming for the seventh season of So You Think You Can Dance. Nigel Lythgoe has already revealed the veterans that will be assisting the shortened list of competitors this summer. Now, he’s making a switch at the judges’ table.

Changes Announced for So You Think You Can Dance

Nigel Lythgoe Twitter

UPDATE: Lythgoe has already announced two of the veterans returning via his Twitter account: Season 4’s Twitch and Season 6’s Kathryn.

For So You Think You Can Dance‘s seventh season, executive producer announced a series of changes that will supposedly freshen up the show a bit…and make it more like Dancing with the Stars?

When the show returns this May, we will no longer be seeing 20 finalists competing for the dance title. The audition process will now whittle the pool down to just 10 names—five men and five women. So does this mean the series will now end a few weeks earlier than usual? No - because we will now only see 1 person eliminated a week.

Like the six previous seasons, the dancers will still perform with another person—just not a fellow competitor. The contestants will now be paired with rotating “All-Star Partners” from SYTYCD‘s past. (Those returning to the series will be revealed in the weeks to come.) Those veterans, like the ones on that ABC program, will not be the focus of the judges from —just the finalists.

Quote of the Day: Nigel Lythgoe No Longer Wants Paula Abdul’s Help

Paula Abdul and Nigel Lythgoe

“No. I spent an entire season wooing her and if she was ever going to do it, she would have. The timing was perfect for her and I was rather shocked she didn’t pick up and join us at any point. I mean, Katie Holmes was there, Jennifer Lopez was there. I know we don’t have Idol money and so does Paula, but at the end of the day I do plenty of things for no money because I want to support dance. And as an dancer/performer/choreographer, I would have thought she’d like to support us.”

Mia Michaels Returns to So You Think You Can Dance

Mia MichaelsWell, that didn’t take very long.

Mia Michaels, who announced her departure from So You Think You Can Dance just over three months ago, made a brief (?) return to the show on Tuesday.

The choreographer and occasional judge sat alongside Nigel Lythgoe and Adam Shankman when the auditions hit New York City. It’s not known whether Michaels - who left the program to focus on other projects - will have other appearances during Season 7.

Did Shane Sparks’ legal troubles simply leave a void at the judges table?
