George Carlin Dies of Heart Failure

George Carlin, the very first host of Saturday Night Live, died Sunday evening of heart failure. The 71-year-old was admitted into a Santa Monica hospital earlier that day after complaining of chest pains.
Although he had racked up 14 HBO specials and more than 130 appearances on The Tonight Show, the comedian was probably best known for his monologue on a 1972 album. His list of the ‘Seven Words You Can Never Say on Television’ eventually led to several arrests and a Supreme Court case. (Those words - which were ruled indecent - still cannot be said on air today.)
You can see the Today show’s tribute to the legendary stand-up comic after the jump.

Anna Nicole Smith Dead at Age 39
Posted by Wendy Michaels Categories: News,
Soon after news broke that Anna Nicole Smith had collapsed in a Florida hotel, it was reported that the tabloid favorite had died. Smith, who was born Vickie Lynn Hogan, first became famous for her Guess jeans ads and Playboy centerfold spread. Later, she provided a steady stream of tabloid material when she married an 89-year-old oil tycoon. She remained in the spotlight as the legal battle for his fortune continued. At one point, she had her own reality show on E! and continued to appear in tabloids for her growing waistline. The recent death of her 20-year-old son, birth of her new daughter, and question over the father of her child all contributed a great deal of stress to the bubbly blond. Just days ago, it was announced that Smith would be sued for her role as spokeswoman for the TrimSpa weight-loss supplement. She was found in her hotel room at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel this afternoon, and passed away shortly thereafter. The cause of death is under investigation, with an autopsy scheduled for Friday.
