Full House Remake an Empty Promise

For those who squealed at recent rumors that the Tanners will be returning in a Full House “semi-remake,” the next news might be tough.
An unnamed source has said that “we couldn’t make the deal.” According to gossip, John Stamos (a.k.a. Uncle Jesse) himself was pitching the idea, but the source claims “it’s completely dead right now.”
That doesn’t sound too hopeful. Full House was a successful family-themed sitcom which currently resides in cable syndication. The series originally ran on ABC from 1987 to 1995, and launched the careers of Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen, the Olsen twins (who jointly portrayed youngest daughter Michelle Tanner).
But don’t give up just yet. According to the mysterious source, called an “insider,” the show “could happen in the future.” So could Soylent Green - but no one’s investing in it.

Mary-Kate Guest Stars on Samantha Who?
Posted by Robin Paulson Categories: Comedy, Drama, Prime Time, ABC, Showtime, Announcements, Gossip, Ratings, Rumors
It looks as if the troubled half of the Olsen twins is truly back on her feet! Mary-Kate Olsen is returning to television again, guest starring on the ABC comedy Samantha Who?
After her 10 episode stint on Showtime’s hit series Weeds, the former child star is actually becoming an adult in the acting world (need I remind you of those straight-to-DVD movies and New York Minute?). After all, she did just turn 22… it’s about time!
The pint-sized actress plays a character who needs “saving” by Christina Applegate‘s title character. Sources say that although she has only been scheduled for one episode, everyone has been more than happy about her performance. Hopefully she can graduate to real films now!
The episode is scheduled to air this upcoming fall.

The Story Behind Mary-Kate Olsen’s Frown
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Drama, Showtime, Talent, Gossip
If you’ve ever seen a tabloid photo of Mary-Kate Olsen and wondered “what’s the deal…is she pissed or something?” – the answer is yes. The 21-year-old twin sat down recently with Entertainment Weekly to talk about the paparazzi, a problem to which all her Hollywood contemporaries (and not a single fan of hers) can relate. Mary-Kate told the magazine she doesn’t want her picture taken, and that it’s only “okay” at the red carpet or during a photo shoot. Olsen covers her face and doesn’t like to smile when her photo gets shot – which accounts for at least some of the tragic pictures of her that have appeared over the years. Mary-Kate’s 10-episode stint on Weeds will begin this month.

More Than Legal: Mary-Kate and Ashley Turn 21
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Talent, Gossip, News
Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen turned 21 Thursday, a milestone birthday for the famous former child stars. Though they still have a huge fan base, much of it springing from the tween and teen set (not to mention a host of men who just love the way they look), the well-known identical twins have been seen less and less in movies and TV and more and more in tabloids. Are they quickly heading down a darkened path of former child stardom, the road many other actors have trod? Not every child actor fades into obscurity – just look at former wild child Drew Barrymore, who was famous tabloid fodder for drug abuse problems and a score of other antics when she was 19. Today, Barrymore is one of Hollywood’s more bankable stars. Or will Mary-Kate and Ashley end up like the Gabor sisters twenty years from now – older, famous, and still sisters, but no one can remember how they got famous in the first place?

Weeds Comes Between Olsen Twins
Posted by Wendy Michaels Categories: Drama, Cable, HBO, Cable/Satellite
If you thought the Olsen twins were a package deal, think again. Mary-Kate (the skinny one—how funny is that?) will be joining the third season of Weeds, starring Mary-Louise Parker. This is the first time she has appeared without her sister and after a long hiatus from the television business. Remember, they spent their adolescence churning out direct-to-video features? And then there was their attempt at the film New York Minute... well, ‘nuff said there. She’ll be playing a Christian girl who is smitten with Nancy Botwin’s (Parker) son Silas (Hunter Parrish). Olsen will appear for 10 of the upcoming 15 episodes. Well at least she’s staying in the wholesome role, although the character is rumored to be a bit of wild child. “I’m thrilled to be a part of the show,” said Olsen. “It’s really an honor to be a part of such a talented group of actors and writers.” Executive producer Jenji Kohan said of Olsen, “She came in and read with Hunter and was absolutely charming and real and seemed like a great fit. Audiences have seen only one side of Mary-Kate, but here we’ll see her in a whole new light.” Will this new role have people seeing Olsen in a new way? Or at least as more of an individual rather than part of the “Olsen twins”? At the end of the day, I’m sure she doesn’t really care because she’s a millionaire! Weeds premieres August 13th.
