Video of John McCain’s Saturday Night Live Sketches

Last night, - with the help of his wife - hit Saturday Night Live and left no comedic stone unturned.

In the senator’s first sketch, he and gave their version of the Barack Obama infomercial. Acknowledging they did not have the Democratic dollars, McCain and “Palin” aired their spot on QVC. During their promo, they addressed the cost of Sarah’s expensive wardrobe and the caliber of their Hollywood supporters (Jon Voight, Heidi Montag). The Alaska governor also momentarily went rogue and talked about her 2012 run.

In the Republican nominee’s second sketch (which can be seen after the jump), he brought up the most overused word of 2008: Maverick.

Will Ferrell Joins Tina Fey on Saturday Night Live

What’s better than a Tina Fey cameo on ? A Palin sketch that also includes Will Ferrell.

On tonight’s special Thursday broadcast, the popular SNL alum made a surprise return to play the current POTUS. Not so coincidentally, Will is also prepping to bring his version of Bush to Broadway next year.

Was Ferrell’s visit really a shameless promotion for You’re Welcome America. A Final Night With George W. Bush? Who cares?

Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag

, an MTV pseudo-reality show which just might be a rare form of entertainment cancer, just got unbelievably sillier. Honestly, I don’t know whether to laugh or cry over the recent pics of Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt, who recently took a stroll in the California sunshine wearing - get this - his and her pro-Republican T-shirts.

While Heidi clomped along in her high, thick-soled shoes, Spencer kept a shotgun slung against his shoulder. And for those of you who, like myself, have been wondering just who Joe Six Pack is - it’s . Note how he slugs back his beer - look in-between the couple to see the rest of those brews just waiting for their chance in front of the cameras.

SNL Alum Not Amused By Sarah Palin

After tons of hype and media attention, vice presidential candidate finally made an appearance (for real) on SNL. I would have rather just watched Tina Fey (who at least makes the wanna-be veep seem charming)…and apparently I’m not alone in that sentiment.

“Quite frankly, it’s a big mistake to let her go on,” said former regular and Weekend Update anchor Chevy Chase. “Apparently, she [Sarah Palin] cannot improvise herself out of a paper bag!” Or drooping polls.

Sarah Palin Reportedly Set for Oct. 25 SNL Appearance

Sarah PalinUPDATE: The guest appearance has now been confirmed for Saturday, October 18.

It appears as if the rumors are about to become true.

According to the New York Post, Sarah Palin will be visiting 30 Rockefeller Center on October 25. This news backs up an initial report made by the Chicago Sun-Times last week.

Although it’s still unclear what Palin will do (will she be spoofing Tina Fey after all?) on , the Alaskan governor is currently in talks about several different sketches. Rehearsals for her NBC appearance are scheduled for next Friday.

Palin’s SNL debut will come approximately one week after John McCain makes his own late-night waves. This Thursday, the Arizona senator will offer his best apology to Dave Letterman on the Late Show.

Palin Rumored to Play Tina Fey on SNL

Tina Fey in American Express commercial

Although Palin only watched Tina Fey’s first parody with the volume down, rumor has it the Alaskan governor might soon be returning the favor.

According to the Chicago Sun-Times, the VP candidate may be looking to boost some poll numbers by spoofing her spoofer. The buzz is that will put her own spin on one of Fey’s humorous American Express commercials. (The above pic of Fey - coincidentally playing the flute - is from one of those spots.)

So when could this sketch possibly air? Well, it could happen as early as this Thursday. Prior to seeing the recent boost in ratings, the show’s producers had planned to air several Thursday night specials. The live 30-minute programs would get viewers geared up for the elections and help fill our needs while SNL was in reruns. (We won’t get a new Saturday night edition until October 18.)

Watch Saturday Night Live’s VP Debate Sketch

In the event you had better plans last night, here’s your chance to watch ‘s take on the Vice-Presidential Debate.

As mentioned earlier, Queen Latifah made a special appearance as moderator Gwen Ifill yesterday. Stepping up to play Joe Biden was cast member Jason Sudeikis. (Sudeikis also continued with his George Bush portrayal later in the same show.) And, as expected, Tina Fey resumed her role as Sarah Palin.

Those of you still playing the “maverick” drinking game better get your six-pack ready:

Thursday Ratings: VP Debate Sets Record

In addition to being last night’s big ticket, yesterday’s meeting between Sarah Palin and Joe Biden was the most-watched VP debate in history. But when divvied up over 11 different outlets, the event technically came behind Survivor in the ratings. For that reason, CBS was a winner with the viewers while NBC was on top with the demos.

Sarah PalinJoe Biden

In case you somehow managed to miss the banner headlines and television teasers, the Vice Presidential candidates will face off tonight. That’s right - and will share their vision for the future even as they publicly rip each other to shreds. I love the debates.

Don’t know where to watch this much-touted, long-anticipated event? Every major network, PBS, C-SPAN, CNN, FOX News and MSNBC will all be showing the coverage live - just start flipping channels and you’re bound to find it.

They’ll meet up at Washington University in St. Louis and square off on the important issues affecting the country….or, they’ll just both spit rhetoric and remain carefully ambiguous on all swing voter issues. No need to alienate all the maybes out there. Palin has been preparing for the at McCain’s Arizona retreat, while Biden has been at work in his Delaware home.

Tina Fey Brings Spark to Saturday Night Live’s Ratings

Although ‘s episodes have been creatively uneven (What was up with that Michael Phelps swimming sketch?), the 2008 political season has been good to the show. Prior to last night’s broadcast, NBC saw a 50% ratings bump over 2007’s first two weeks.

A large part of the program’s recent success is, of course, due to ‘s hilarious portrayal of Sarah Palin. Last night, the Emmy winner’s second attempt helped SNL improve 46% over this point last year. (You can see the clip of yesterday’s opener below.) Given that the Vice-Presidential debate is scheduled for this Thursday, I expect we will see Fey one more before we hit a rerun. (For some reason, the producers can only manage four episodes in a row before needing to recharge.)

and The Killers are the featured guests next Saturday.
