2010 Screen Actors Guild Award Nominations (TV)
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Award Shows, Comedy, Drama, Music, Prime Time, Sci-Fi/Horror, ABC, Cable, CBS, FX, FOX, HBO, NBC, PBS, Showtime, TNT-HD, 30 Rock, House, Medium, The Office, News

Squeezed in between the Golden Globes broadcast and the Oscar nominations is an awards ceremony voted on solely by the actors. (So unlike the People’s Choice Awards, this actually has meaning.)
For the 16th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards, we’ll see a lot of the old and just a little bit of the new. Here are some of the noteworthy mentions from this year’s list of television nominees:
- The Closer, Dexter and 30 Rock lead this year’s pack with three nominations each.
- Despite no individual mentions, freshman comedies Modern Family and Glee were both honored in the Best Ensemble category.
- Samantha Who‘s Christina Applegate received a nomination despite starring in a canceled show.
- True Blood received its first nom—but just for its cast, not for any single actor.
The SAG Awards will air Saturday, Jan. 23 on both TNT and TBS.
(You can find the full list of TV nominees after the jump. Click here for the film nominations.)

The 61st Primetime Emmy Awards

Could the 61st Primetime Emmy Awards be another year for firsts?
Around this same time last September, the execs of basic cable were thrilled to see one of their own finally win the Emmy for Outstanding Drama Series (Mad Men). Meanwhile, producers of reality fare saw an award given to one of their hosts (Jeff Probst). So which other category could be covered during this round? Animation.
For the first time since 1961 (when The Flintstones were still on air), an animated program has been nominated for Outstanding Comedy Series. So will Family Guy finally go where The Simpsons has never gone before? Not if the six other contenders have anything to say about it!
So who won? Who lost? Which funnyman took home the award for Outstanding Supporting Actor since Jeremy Piven wasn’t even nominated? Read our West Coast play-by-play account of this evening’s telecast and find out!

Medium Moves to CBS
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Drama, Prime Time, CBS, MTV, Medium, Cancellations, Renewals

The showrunners at Medium are feeling quite large today.
One day after receiving a cancellation notice, the cast and crew of the NBC series were given a reprieve. The Patricia Arquette vehicle will now be heading over to CBS.
Being booted by the Peacock might have actually been the best thing for the show. Medium will now get a plum spot right after Ghost Whisperer on Fridays. Although that position is currently occupied by Flashpoint, the police drama is expected to return sometime midseason.

So who cares if no one will be in attendance, the Golden Globe nominations must go on! (If the ceremony continues on as planned, it will air Sunday, January 13th on NBC.)
Here are the most notable omissions/additions in this year’s list of television honorees:
- Damages and Longford led the pack with 4 nominations each.
- James Gandolfini and The Sopranos were both left out of the races (though Edie Falco did get a nod).
- Three of the nominees for best TV Comedy (Entourage, Extras, Californation) came from pay-cable networks.
- Past faves (Desperates Housewives, Heroes, Ugly Betty) were nowhere to be found. (Though America Ferrera did earn a nod for her individual achievement.)
- HBO led the networks with 18 nominations; ABC was second with 11.
