MONDAY 2/23)
  • Chuck (NBC, 8pm):  “Jeff and Lester pester Ellie to hire their music group - called Jeffster! - as her wedding band.” That’s one way to ensure the Macarena won’t be played.
  • Jon & Kate Plus 8 (TLC, 9pm):  “Jon and Kate decide to expand their family with the addition of two puppies.” Let’s not give any ideas.
  • 24 (FOX, 9pm):  “Jack and Renee walker pursue Dubaku through the streets of Washington, D.C., with a little cyber help from Chloe.” If Bauer switched to Verizon, he could have a whole network working for him.
  • True Beauty (ABC, 10pm):  Season finale. “A winner is named after an intimate interview with editor Jess Cagle tests contestants’ inner beauty and a seminude photo shoot tests their outer beauty.” The finalists will be graded on a curve and their curves.

Wednesday Ratings: Lost Comes Back to Life

Despite a slow decline since its season debut, Lost saw a spark of life last night. Yesterday’s episode saw the return of the Oceanic 6…and the viewers. But, as we know, there isn’t anything Jack or Ben can do to topple American Idol. FOX easily won both categories this Wednesday.

Tuesday Ratings: Simon Baker Squares Off with Simon Cowell

Last night’s two-hour episode of American Idol faced direct competition with CBS’ powerhouse. Although Idol was the night’s top draw, the program saw a drop from last year’s outing. The Mentalist also took a numbers hit, though the blow could have been worse.

Wednesday Ratings: Lost Suffers an Idol Blow

There’s nothing like an expanded Idol to give perfectly good shows a hard time. Yesterday’s two-hour Hollywood Week episode contributed to Lost‘s season-low numbers. The good news? The ABC program still had the best demos of any scripted program last night.

Tuesday Ratings: CBS Inches Closer to FOX

All of a sudden, FOX is being forced to work hard for its money. Last night, new episodes of NCIS and The Mentalist put CBS within 100,000 viewers of the American Idol network. Meanwhile, an Octo-mom special had NBC tied with CBS for second place in the demos.

Wednesday Ratings: Lie to Me Remains Strong

After several weeks, the battle between Lie to Me and Lost remains tight. Last night, a Katie Couric special (yes, another one) helped the FOX series catch its ABC competitor in the demos.

  • (26.3 million, 9.9/27 in 18-49) gave up 700,000.
  • * (8.5 million, 1.7/5) lost 2.1 million.
  • (4.9 million, 1.4/4) saw 1.2 million speed off.
  • * (1.7/5) kicked off the evening with 4.8 million.
  • * (920,000. 0.3/1) slipped by 900,000.

CW Announces Changes for Reaper, 90210, Privileged

Reaper castDid American Idol‘s return have you choosing between Hollywood and Beverly Hills? If so, CW might have just thrown you a bone.

Come March 3rd, Tuesdays will look slightly different. On that night, - originally scheduled to debut on St. Patrick’s Day - will have its midseason premiere. Its early return will mean Privileged‘s season finale will come sooner that later. (The freshman series will end its first run on February 24.)

But Reaper won’t just be sliding into ‘s old 9:00 time slot. That position will now belong to . It’s hoped the teen drama’s new home will allow it to be free of Idol‘s shadow.
