Quote of the Day: Anthony Bourdain on FOX’s Masterchef
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Food & Home, Prime Time, Reality, FOX, Gossip,
“Dreadful. I saw one episode where they had the contestants try to identify the ingredients of chili. ‘I’m guessing there’s onion in there’—you know what I’m saying? ‘There might be beef too.’ I wish Gordon Ramsay well, but I think Top Chef remains the benchmark.”
-No Reservations’ Anthony Bourdain on MasterChef, FOX’s latest contribution to the food competition genre.

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Drama, Prime Time, Sci-Fi/Horror, Cable, HBO, Gossip,
“The other day I realized as long as I’m in this business, I’m going to be hungry. The camera really does add 10 pounds. I’m trying to stay under the weight I want to look like on TV. It’s a good incentive to stay slim and is probably adding years to my life.”

Quote of the Day: J.J. Abrams Weighs in on Lost Ending
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Drama, Prime Time, Sci-Fi/Horror, ABC, Lost, Gossip,
“Even if you planned everything [in advance] you’d do yourself a disservice. You couldn’t anticipate Michael Emerson coming on board. I know there’s a lot of people who have dissenting opinions; I think [producers] Damon [Lindelof] and Carlton [Cuse] kicked incredible ass and came up with a finale that ended it well.”
-Lost co-creator and co-executive producer J.J. Abrams - who hasn’t been directly involved with the program in years - discussing his opinion of the show’s ending with with Comic-Con attendees.

Quote of the Day: True Blood’s Moyer on Being Intimate with Paquin
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Drama, Prime Time, Sci-Fi/Horror, Cable, HBO, Gossip,
“Everybody on set now gets to see what goes on behind closed doors. We leave nothing to the imagination! [Laughs] But our love scenes actually work really well. Since the crew knows we do have chemistry and are together in real life, I feel like it takes away from the nerve-racking tension that can occur when people have to watch two actors who are just getting to know each other engage in an intimate scene.”
-True Blood‘s Stephen Moyer on filming love scenes with his Anna Paquin, his real-life fiancee.

Quote of the Day: Ricky Gervais on Carell’s Office Departure
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Comedy, Prime Time, NBC, The Office, News,
“Well it’s official. Steve Carell will leave The Office after this next season. It was of course inevitable (and sad), but I wish him all the luck in the world. He is quite possibly the nicest, hardest working man in America and it has been a joy working with him over the last six years. (And taking the piss out of him at every award show.) It was expected of me, as executive producer, to persuade him to stay on. With syndication in full swing the more successful the show remains, the more billions we all make. It was tempting, but the truth is, I believe he is doing the right thing. He’s fulfilled his contract and more, and is a huge film star now. (I knocked it on the head after 12 episodes and a Christmas special.) I’d be lying if I said he should do more. He shouldn’t. He should move on, continue to do great work, and buy a new house every time The Office is repeated somewhere. (That’s what I do. Maybe I’ll buy one next door to him one day. That’ll f**king teach him.)”
-Ricky Gervais, star of the the original version of The Office, blogging about Steve Carell’s upcoming exit from the U.S. version.

Quote of the Day: Anthony Bourdain Compares Food Network to MTV
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Food & Home, Cable, MTV, Gossip,
“Just like there’s not much music on MTV, there aren’t many chefs on Food Network. Their brand is really, I think it’s clear, not chef-driven. For a period of time, the last thing they wanted, it seemed, was anyone who actually worked in a restaurant or cooked professionally or was authoritative on the subject of food. I think they figured out very quickly that their audience liked to look at barbecue and certain types of foods, particularly familiar ones, that they could imagine sinking their teeth into, so there’s the sort of porn aspect. Then of course, they wanted friendly familiar personalities that made them feel better about themselves.”
-No Reservations’ Anthony Bourdain explaining why he’s not a huge fan of the Food Network. (His show airs on the Travel Channel.)

Quote of the Day: Miley Cyrus Not a Glee Fan
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Comedy, Music, Prime Time, FOX, Video,
