For the 11th cycle of America’s Next Top Model, the CW wasted no time in getting viewers drawn into the drama. In addition to the annual selection episode, Week 1 consisted of a bonus elimination hour.
Since the 14 finalists (including a transgendered contestant) were revealed to the media weeks ago, there’s really little need to detail the events of the show’s anti-climatic first half. So let’s just move on to meaty portion of the competition, shall we?

Were you one of the millions entertained this summer by Wipeout’s Big Balls? Well, then this might be the show for you.
Next month, FOX will introduce Hole in the Wall, its contribution to the reality humiliation genre. Although the program’s concept could tire quickly (like The Moment of Truth’s), it’s appears to be a fun counterprogramming option for those in need of a mindless chuckle.
Hole in the Wall has special previews on September 7th and 9th. It will then regularly air @ 8pm on Thursdays starting September 11.

A recent poll offered up by PopEater poses a very interesting question…and raises a few more. Saying the site has “just about had it” with the “cheesiness” of Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt, stars of MTV’s The Hills, the site swears to stop covering the pair - if that’s what the public wants.

“It’s like, you know, having dinner with three people for seven tears, and getting quite bored of each other,” Simon Cowell told reporters recently on the subject of new American Idol judge Kara DioGuardi, the first time the new foursome has appeared in front of the media together. “I think it’s gonna be interesting…And, she’s cute,” Cowell added.
Paula Abdul said that Kara “will be speaking her mind,” on the show. “That’s a nice way of saying she’s bitchy,” Cowell interjected.

Making Reality, TV Guide Style

It was absolutely by accident that I began watching episodes of Making News: Savannah Style on TV Guide, but I was instantly drawn in by the dynamic personalities and behind-the-scenes action. I actually don’t watch any news program…but I’m not above watching a reality show about one.
Savannah’s WJCL news team has the lowest ratings in their market. The station has been plagued by staffing troubles (the general manager of the station was arrested for embezzlement, among other troubles) and the owners are trying to sell, leaving little money for upgrades and equipment. To that end, the cameras and sound work only some of the time, leaving the news team scrambling to meet deadlines and create TV-worthy coverage.

Could Paula Abdul be fighting more than just Simon Cowell next year?
Just hours after reporting that changes would be coming, it’s been announced that American Idol will be add a fourth judge next year. Someone who will be there permanently.
For the singing competition’s eighth season, fans will be introduced to Kara DioGuardi, a highly-respected songwriter/producer. As it turns out, DioGuardi already has a history with the reality show having written tunes for former contestants. Kara - whose songs have appeared on more than 100 million records - was behind such tracks as “Walk Away” (Kelly Clarkson) and “Love Story” (Katharine McPhee). Her name is also attached to hits by a number of other musicians including Christina Aguilera ("Ain’t No Other Man"), Gwen Stefani ("Rich Girl"), Ashlee Simpson ("Pieces of Me") and Enrique Iglesias ("Escape").

Who knows? Maybe the 13th time’s a charm?
Despite a humiliating experience just last month, The Bachelorette’s Jason Mesnick is determined to try again.
In July’s finale of the reality dating show, the single father from Seattle made himself vulnerable when he got down on one knee before millions of viewers. Unfortunately, DeAnna Pappas shocked many when she ultimately chose skateboarder Jesse Csincsak over the 32-year-old divorcé.

I apologize, World. Paris Hilton is going international.
Although her new reality show, Paris Hilton’s My New BFF, hasn’t yet debuted, the famous hotel heiress has already opted to try again. Hilton, believing her American choice won’t fit in overseas, has decided to do an entire new search in the UK.
Starting this October, Paris will start taping a British version of her fall MTV program. While the concept will remain the same, the title will get a slight adjustment: Paris Hilton’s New Best Friend. On both programs, a group of wannabes fight for the opportunity to become a fixture on the celebutante’s side.
In a statement released today, Hilton tried her best to explain the upcoming mission:
“Everyone knows I love LA, but London, watch out—I’m coming to town and bringing my fast-paced life with me. I’m in the UK all the time, but of course I can’t bring all my friends, so I’ve decided to look for a new BFF across the pond. I need a best friend who is hot, who can keep up with me, and most of all, who is real and won’t be a backstabber. I’m not leaving London until I find that amazing girl or guy who can meet the challenges of being my British bestie!”

For The Amazing Race’s next season, CBS will be taking viewers on a whole new set of adventures. Adventures not yet seen even after 12 installments of the Emmy-award winning series.
Although we’ll still get what we have come to know and love - 11 teams, five continents, 30,000 miles of travel - the producers of the reality hit promise us that Season 13 will be like no other.
Where can we expect Phil Keoghan to take us this year? After starting in Los Angeles, the duos will travel to Brazil, Bolivia, Russia and India. The crews will also hit Cambodia (where they visit a “real-life water world") and Kazakhstan for the very first time.
