MTV to Air DJ AM Drug Addiction Series
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Reality, Cable, MTV, News

A DJ AM-project left in limbo will reportedly see the light of day.
Sources close to MTV claim the network has chosen to Gone Too Far, an Intervention-esque series that was completed shortly before the celeb deejay’s August death. In the eight episodes filmed, the former drug user was seen trying to help others with their addiction problems.
Although it’s believed DJ AM (real name Adam Goldstein) may have died as a result of an overdose, it’s hoped the series will highlight Goldstein’s message rather than exploit his death.
No air date has yet been announced for the program. The networks execs are working closely with Adam’s family about the rumored unveiling.

DJ AM Talked About Holding Crack Pipe to MTV
Adam Goldstein’s sudden death on Friday came just weeks before a reality project he had been working on was set to premiere.
Goldstein (a.k.a. DJ AM) had been collaborating with MTV on an Intervention-esque series for the channel. In the eight episodes already shot, Adam, a former drug user, devoted his time to help others with addiction. Now it’s not known whether Gone Too Far will ever air.
Although official an autopsy on the 36-year-old has not yet been completed (toxicology and tissue results are still needed), sources are claiming that drugs were found in Goldstein’s apartment at the time of his death. Adam, who may have been distraught over a recent breakup, was reportedly in the possession of crack when his body was discovered.

Tom Sizemore Joins Ex Heidi Fleiss on Celebrity Rehab 3
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Prime Time, Reality, Cable, Gossip

And you thought the tension between Jeff Conaway and his girlfriend was awkward to watch…
For Season 3 of Celebrity Rehab, Dr. Drew Pinsky and producers have upped the dramatic ante. Actor Tom Sizemore has just been included in the final lineup for the VH1 reality series. This means he will be seeking treatment at the same time as Heidi Fleiss.
Despite an impressive body of work, Sizemore’s personal life has been checkered with a host of legal issues. In addition to numerous troubles with drugs, the Saving Private Ryan star was also convicted in 2003 of assaulting and harassing his then-girlfriend. That woman was Fleiss, the former Hollywood madam. According to TMZ, Tom checked himself into The Pasadena Recovery Center last Friday, one day after being arrested for an outstanding warrant.

Mackenzie Phillips Signs Up for Celebrity Rehab
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Prime Time, Reality, Cable, Gossip

The third season of Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew is definitely a go and currently casting. Mackenzie Phillips, whose biggest claims to fame are her stint on One Day at a Time and her famous father, will serve as the in-house sober coach. This position was held in past seasons by Daniel Baldwin and Gary Busey.
The show’s sober coach is supposed to be an individual who has battled addiction and won. Phillips is no stranger to substance abuse or, for that matter, rehabilitation. As of last September, Phillips was interred in a rehab facility for the tenth time. Other cast members on the third season include Dennis Rodman, Heidi Fleiss, Joey Kovar and Lisa D’Amato.

Dr. Drew Extends Help to Sex Addicts
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Prime Time, Reality, Cable

Soon more addicts will reap the benefits of Drew Pinsky’s non-judgmental approach.
In addition to bringing back Celebrity Rehab for a third season, VH1 has just greenlighted the production of another addiction-related show. Sex Rehab with Dr. Drew will now be the second spinoff of the original treatment program. (Sober House being the first.)
Sex, like its two other predecessors, will be centered around a group of celebrity patients. (No word if David Duchovny might be one of them.) Over the eight-episode series, the producers hope to clear up any questions about the oft-misunderstood compulsion. The addiction, which touches roughly 6% of all Americans, is not normally enjoyed by those afflicted by it. It can also lead to devastating results.
Sex Rehab is set to debut sometime this fall.

Celebrity Rehab Presents: More Misbehaving Celebs
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Prime Time, Reality, Cable, Gossip
That’s right: VH1’s Celebrity Rehab spin-off, Sober House, premiered last night. All the faces but one were very familiar to faithful Rehab viewers, and sadly little else has changed, either.
Most of the Sober House participants were released from Rehab just one week prior to their arrival in a clean living “facility” (which, oh yeah, is really a beautiful mansion in the Hollywood Hills). But for some, perhaps one week was a little too long.
Amber Smith, Mary Carey, Shifty Binzer, Nikki McKibbin and Rodney King arrived at the house without incident. Steven Adler, ex-Guns n Roses drummer, did not. Adler showed up very obviously loaded (that’s slang for under the influence of substances) and packing drug paraphernalia. House manager Jennifer Gimenez, freaked out, called Dr. Drew Pinksy.

Rehab’s Steven Adler Ordered Back to Rehab
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Prime Time, Reality, Cable, News
Despite his recent graduation from Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew (the Season 2 finale aired on Thursday night) and participation in a Sober Living environment (the VH1 spinoff, Sober House, premieres next month), rocker Steven Adler can’t seem to catch a break.
Yesterday the former Guns N’ Roses drummer was ordered by an LA court commissioner to enter yet another rehab facility. The sentence stemmed from an incident back in July of this year. At that time the 43-year-old was arrested for drug possession and for being under the influence of drugs. He was also wanted for an outstanding warrant. By entering a new treatment program, Adler is spared any jail time.
Ironically, Steven was unable to attend his original court date last week because he was still wrapping up his stay at Sober House. He completed his stint just prior to Friday’s appearance.
Celebrity Rehab Presents Sober House - also featuring Rodney King, Nikki McKibbin, Amber Smith, Seth Binzer and Mary Carey and Andy Dick - debuts Thursday, January 15 @ 10:00.

Drama at Sober Living

Although the show hasn’t finished filming yet, VH1’s Sober Living already promises to be an interesting watch.
Last month, we told you about the cable channel’s plans to produce a spinoff of Celebrity Rehab. On the new program, several recovering addicts would live in the same home while trying to get their lives back together. Unfortunately, we’ve already learned of one guest who has experienced a setback. We’ve also heard rumors of a guest who probably hasn’t been rehabbed yet.

Sober Living: Possible Celebrity Rehab Spinoff?
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Prime Time, Reality, Cable, Rumors

It’s one thing to get clean, it’s another thing to stay clean.
According to the New York Post, VH1 could soon be inviting more controversy to its channel. The network - which just wrapped filming on its second season of Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew - may begin production on a spinoff as soon as next week.
If the rumored project is given the greenlight, we could see several of Dr. Drew Pinsky’s former patients reunited Real World style. In Sober Living, the recovering addicts would live in one home for 30 days while trying to piece their lives and careers back together. (Could this be why Dr. Drew had a ‘Celebrity Addiction’ special recently? Probably.) Those supposedly approached for the new series include Seth “Shifty” Binzer (Season 1), rocker Steven Adler (Season 2) and model Amber Smith (Season 2).
Until then, you can expect the next round of counseling sessions to begin when Celebrity Rehab returns on August 4 sometime this October.
