Ashton Kutcher Signs New Two and a Half Men Deal
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Comedy, Prime Time, CBS, Announcements, News, Renewals
Ashton Kutcher is set to return for a new series of Two and a Half Men.
The 34-year-old actor has reportedly signed a new one-year deal which will see him reprise his role as lonely millionaire Walden Schmidt, with co-stars Jon Cryer and Angus T. Jones also returning. Ashton will remain on $700,000 per episode, but he and his co-stars have been promised a signing on bonus, according to Deadline. It is unclear is the new season - the show's 10th - will be its last.
Earlier this year Ashton revealed he would be happy to return for a new series: "I'm having a lot of fun doing the show, working with these guys and would be interested in coming back. The deal that we structured for the show is kind of a test deal, 'Can we get the show up? Can we get it going?' The show is outperforming the numbers from before I was here, and so I think people are responding to it, and, for me having a show that people like and people want more of, that'll dictate my decision."

Zooey Deschanel Show Gets Picked Up For Full Season
Posted by Robin Paulson Categories: Comedy, Prime Time, FOX, Ratings, Renewals
It must be pretty good to be Zooey Deschanel right now.
After just two episodes of her new comedy, New Girl, Fox has picked the series up for a full season of 24 episodes. Judging from its high ratings (it even beat its lead-in, Glee!), it's not quite a surprise.
"We love the charming Zooey Deschanel and the entire cast, we're knocked out with the work that [creator] Liz Meriwether and the whole staff is doing and we are really psyched about the coming episodes in the pipeline. It's great that audiences have responded so positively so far and we're confident that even more people will embrace the show—and more comedy on Fox—this season," said Kevin Reilly, president of Entertainment at Fox.
New Girl -- which also stars Max Greenfield and Hannah Simone -- airs Tuesday nights at 9 p.m. on Fox.

The Game Raises Its Game on BET

Sometimes a cancellation can be the best thing to happen to the series.
When The Game was dropped by CW in May 2009, the comedy/drama about football players and their significant others was picked up by BET. That was a record-breaking move.
The first two episodes of Season 4 averaged 7.7 million viewers -- almost 6 million more than it did on the CW -- and set a viewership record for sitcoms on cable.
