Dancing with the Stars 6: Week 9 Loser

Marissa Jaret Winokur, Tony Dovolani

On last night’s episode of Dancing with the Stars: Season 6, the four semifinalists had the opportunity to showcase their improvement.  Their dances - chosen at random - were all repeats of styles they had done before.

By night’s end:

  • Jason Taylor got a 28 for his Foxtrot (formerly 22) and a 27 for his Paso Doble (26).  Total = 55.
  • Cristián de la Fuente was coincidentally assigned the same two performances he attempted the night of his injury.  Despite horrible flashbacks, he earned a 27 for his Viennese Waltz (25) and a 29 for his Samba (21).  His total of 56 topped the Miami Dolphin.
  • Underdog Marissa Jaret Winokur scored a 26 for her Quickstep (21) and a 26 for the Rumba (25).  Total - 52.
  • Kristi Yamaguchi racked up a 28 for her Jive (down from her perfect 30) and a 29 for her Tango (27).  Her total of 57 was the best of the evening.

Dancing with the Stars 6: Week 9

Last Monday on Dancing with the Stars: Season 6, the top two contenders (Jason and Kristi) both made large steps backwards. Meanwhile, Cristián proved a silly little injury wasn’t going to hold him back.

In this week’s semi-finals, the remaining four celebrities performed two familiar styles (one Latin, one Ballroom) that were chosen at random. They were also banned from doing more lifts.  Who demonstrated improvement...and who repeated their mistakes? Read on!

Last week on Dancing with the Stars: Season 6, the remaining seven competitors had to perform two numbers—one they had never done before and an unscored group dance.

With the competition now at the halfway point, its time for the Final Six to prove they can go the distance.  From this point forward, each hoofer will have to perform two individual numbers (both of which will be graded).  Who earned their chance at the trophy...and who earned their way to the emergency room?  Read on!

Last week, the elite eight - minus a few exceptions - struggled with the show’s Latin night.  By Tuesday, Marlee lost her timing, Shannon lost her hips and Priscilla lost her place in the competition.

Tonight on Dancing with the Stars: Season 6, the amateurs had to memorize two new dances—one they had never done before and a group country number.  (The latter performance wasn’t scored.) Were the stars able to please the judges...or did the program’s newest couple hog all the attention?

DWTS, Priscilla Presley

Yesterday on Dancing with the Stars: Season 6, the celebrities did their best to find the Latin in them.  While it was another great night for Kristi Yamaguchi and Jason Taylor, sadly those two contestants were the only ones to get scores above 25.  (Last week, four couples got above that figure.)

Last night’s styles proved to be quite difficult for several of the amateurs.  The slow Rumba exposed some dancers’ faults (Priscilla, Cristian) while the fast Samba tested the abilities and/or timing of others (Shannon, Marlee).  By night’s end, Miss Presley - a former contender for the title - had earned the lowest score (21) while Marissa was steadily improving her overall average (21.2).

Last week, most of the dancers were floating on air after their impressive turns at either the Paso Doble or the Viennese Waltz.  By Tuesday, three of them had 10s, Marissa had confidence and Adam had a return ticket home.

Today, the celebrities of welcomed Latin night with either the sizzling Samba or the romantic Rumba.  Did someone finally reach the elusive 30...and was anyone able to make Carrie Ann cry again?  Read on!

Dancing With The Stars: Week 5 Loser

Mark CubanAfter weeks of occupying the low scorer’s bench, the Dallas Maverick’s owner was finally ejected from the dance floor tonight.  As entertaining as had been (especially in his ‘I Dream of Jeannie’ performance last night), his abilities were clearly lagging behind those of the remaining competitors.  Fortunately, Cuban didn’t overstay his welcome and make things equally as awkward as last night’s show-stopper.

But who had the honor of warming the seat next to him?  Was it wobbly Marie?  Last week’s near-miss, Mel B?  Or how about Helio, the dancer with the pained expression?  No—it was Monday’s sexy siren, .  Although she scored higher than Garth, Osmond or Castroneves, Jane’s hot rumba apparently didn’t do much for the viewers at home.  (Maybe voters don’t like rooting for someone who’s all skin and bones.)

So now we’re down to the Final Seven:  Jane, Melanie, Jennie, Marie, Sabrina, Helio and Cameron.  All the obvious contenders have already been eliminated—so who do you think will occupy the Bottom Two next week?

Dancing With The Stars: Week 5

DWTS

It was Latin night on this week, and as Tom Bergeron joked—there was very little fabric to be seen.  Tonight the competitors had to perform either a sizzling Samba or a romantic Rumba.  Read on to see how they fared:

MARIE OSMOND (partner Jonathan Roberts)
(Dance: Samba/ Song: ‘Crickets Sing for Anamaria’)
She looks like Charo in her short blue dress tonight (and that’s not a good thing).  She’s also dancing very tentatively and looking weirdly off.  NOTE:  Anticipating Marie’s fall (read here for the details), I never really heard what Len said (though he never really got to finish before the collapse anyway).  Score: 7/7/7 (21)

JANE SEYMOUR (partner Tony Dovolani)
(Dance: Rumba/ Song: ‘Breathe Again’)
It’s amazing how she can go from classy to sexy in just one week.  And what a hot, red dress!  Bruno complimented her lovely lines and shape.  He even said she even looked like Edyta at times.  Carrie Ann said Jane had a problem spotting her turns.  Len said she brought romance and class to the floor.  Score: 8/9/9 (26)
