“I don’t know if it’s true, but I could possibly be a judge on American Idol.” It’s a hell of a good way to start a conversation - but could also be a bad case of wishful thinking. In a new interview, Bret Michaels makes a pretty clear plea to take Simon Cowell’s spot on Idol’s sinking reality ship. Will he get it? Let’s take a look at his pitch…
According to reports, Simon Cowell casually suggested Michaels as a replacement judge on the series…though it seems Bret is the one who’s taking that suggestion most seriously. “I was honored that Simon said that,” Michaels told People, “and, I would be honored to do it.”
Sure. The gig doesn’t pay too poorly, either.
Michaels explained some of his qualifications: “For a lot of these young musicians, I’d be able to give them incredibly awesome and very, very real advice.”
Bret Michaels is no stranger to reality TV. His own show, Rock of Love, has delighted fans on VH1 for three seasons, he judged on the ill-fated Nashville Star and he recently won Celebrity Apprentice.

If you watched the American Idol 9 finale, you know the show closed its season with lots of glitter, glamour and more than one tear-jerking moment as the series bid good-bye to Simon Cowell, its most beloved star. The finale was stuffed with live performances, but Popeater is reporting that there’s at least one we missed: Adam Lambert got cut from the show earlier this week.
According to unnamed sources, Adam Lambert failed to show up for scheduled rehearsals before the big finale. Producers didn’t know where he was, and decided to cut him from the episode altogether. One source claims the powers-that-be were too nervous to put an unrehearsed Lambert on the live Idol stage to perform, as the unpredictable singer is far too well-known for pushing the envelope of what’s acceptable during his performances.
Recap every glorious moment of the ninth season - from early auditions to the grand finale - right here. Check out all our American Idol 9 posts.

Rumors are circulating that YouTube phenomenon Susan Boyle may make a guest appearance on Glee, FOX’s scripted musical hit. The powers-that-be on the show are trying to get Boyle signed up for Season 2’s Christmas episode. But…what role would she play?
“I have two words for you: Lunch Lady,” said show co-creator Ryan Murphy. “I think Kurt [played by Chris Colfer] would just die to give her a Christmas makeover. I don’t even know if she’s interested, but it’s been pitched.”
No worries there. Boyle - or at least, Boyle’s management - is likely to be interested. Glee has already lined up big guest stars over its successful first season, and it’s the most buzzworthy new show of the year.
Even if Susan Boyle doesn’t stop by Glee to brighten the holiday, Gleeks have nothing to fear: a Christmas album will be released in time for gift-giving season.

In Touch Weekly is reporting that American Idol is again romancing ex-judge Paula Abdul. Once the lone female on the judging panel, Abdul failed to come to a contractual agreement with Idol over the summer. She was replaced on the panel by comedienne Ellen DeGeneres, who has failed to deliver little more than odd comparisons and one-liners on the singing show.
According to an unnamed source quoted by the mag, Paula is currently talking to producers about her return. Ratings for the reality hit have been down this year (it’s getting beat by Dancing With the Stars on ABC), and the show is scrambling to save itself in the face of Simon Cowell’s imminent departure. Is Paula Abdul the answer to lifting the flagging sails on the Idol ship?

As first mentioned on Gear Live’s music site, last year’s runner-up will return to American Idol next week to mentor the Top 8 contestants.
Adam Lambert can certainly help some of them toe the line with censors, and if even a little of his showmanship rubs off on a few of them it’s a win-win.

Casey James, the blonde-haired, guitar-riffing singer who first caught Kara DioGuardi’s eye with his well-toned pecs, may have a few secrets left to spill. Numerous sources are suggesting that James is gay, which means that Kara’s mild flirtation with him is not only wholly misplaced but more than a little funny.
