Paula Abdul to Helm New-Old TV Series?
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Music, Prime Time, Reality, ABC, Gossip, Rumors

UPDATE: New sources say that Paula’s deal with ABC has failed to come to fruition. Perhaps she’ll make it to X-Factor with Simon Cowell after all!
New rumors suggest that all the old rumors are untrue: Paula Abdul won’t be doing X-Factor after all. Gossip says that Abdul is currently in talks with ABC to host a new version of Star Search, which is being newly re-vamped for television. The series ran for 12 years (1983-95) with Ed McMahon at the helm.
Here’s the thing: Star Search has been re-vamped before. CBS did it in 2003 in an effort to compete with American Idol (the plan didn’t work). Arsenio Hall was the host, and it was canceled after only two seasons. In fact, CBS still has their official Web site up for the series.

American Idol 9: Did Todrick Hall Scam a Bunch of Kids?
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Music, Prime Time, Reality, FOX, American Idol, Gossip, Rumors
Your kid comes home from school one day all lit up and smiling. Oz: The Musical is coming to town, and the production needs kids who can be munchkins. Here’s the kicker: every kid gets in. As a parent, you pay a fee and then get to see your kid in the play…or, maybe not. Some parents only received a brief e-mail - no monetary refund - stating that the show had been canceled. And rumor has it that Todrick Hall, American Idol 9 Top 24 contestant, is one of the architects of all this sadness.
The former Broadway actor apparently took Oz: The Musical on tour around the country, a show that he himself created. According to several statements from parents, cancellations occurred from February 2009 through the summer in various locations, and refunds were not given.
Vote for the Worst is collecting horror stories, and they’re piling up. Kimberlee Edwards says she shelled out $75 for costumes and rehearsal space, discovering later that the town gave the production rehearsal space at no charge. After a little digging, VFTW discovered that checks were written to Mr. Money, Magic Money Productions. Mr. Money is Greg Money, who owns Pistolutions.net. Ozthemusical.com is registered to todrick.hall@pistolutions.net.

Behind-the-scenes gossip at American Idol suggests that newest judge Ellen DeGeneres is making her presence felt in the form of outlandish demands and threats. And she seems so nice when the cameras are rolling.
Rumor has it that DeGeneres is asking for a clothing allowance of $150,000 for custom-made items to be worn on camera. According to an unnamed rumormonger, “Ellen feels it’s only fair because Paula [Abdul] received a hefty allowance for hair, makeup and wardrobe.”

Didi Benami: Broken-Hearted Hollywood Contender, or Saavy LA Singer?
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Music, Prime Time, Reality, FOX, American Idol, Gossip, Rumors, Video
American Idol 9 would have us believe that pretty, blonde Didi Benami is a sweet young girl who suffered the terrible pain of seeing her best friend die young. She used music to stay strong after this terrible blow, finally realizing some of her dreams by making it all the way to Hollywood. And while that may all be true, there’s much, much more to this sob story than that - but Idol probably doesn’t want you to know it.

Howard Stern Addresses American Idol Rumors
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Music, Prime Time, Reality, FOX, American Idol, Rumors, Video
The media’s been going crazy since recent rumors of staffing changes at American Idol surfaced. Simon Cowell revealed weeks ago that he’ll be jumping the sinking FOX flagship, and rumor has it that he’ll reunited with Paula Abdul on his Stateside version of X-Factor. Meanwhile, the folks behind Idol are reportedly looking for his replacement - and the rumors suggest that replacement might be radio shock jock Howard Stern.
On his Sirius radio program, Stern alluded to the rumors and added (in his usual ribald way) “there’s not a better job on the planet than judging that [expletive deleted] karaoke contest.” He then went on to say that he would do the show - if they offer $100 million. I don’t think that’s going to happen, so we can all take a big, deep breath of relief now.
