Dancing with the Stars 6: Week 10 Winner

Dancing with the Stars 6 Final 3

On last night’s episode of Dancing with the Stars: Season 6, the last contenders got their chance to prove they were worthy of the finals. In the first ever “face off,” all three couples performed the same style of dance (the Cha Cha) within the same song. This was an opportunity for the viewers and the judges to see how they all tackled an identical challenge. Then in the no holds barred Freestyle round, the stars were allowed to bring whatever their momma gave them.

By night’s end:

  • Cristián da le Fuente earned a 26 for his Cha Cha (an improvement from his earlier 21) and a 26 in the Freestyle round.  TOTAL: 52
  • scored a disappointing 24 for his Cha Cha (a tie with his last attempt) and a 27 for the Freestyle. TOTAL: 51
  • Kristi Yamaguchi achieved perfect scores in both styles. TOTAL: 60

Dancing with the Stars 6: Week 9 Loser

Marissa Jaret Winokur, Tony Dovolani

On last night’s episode of Dancing with the Stars: Season 6, the four semifinalists had the opportunity to showcase their improvement.  Their dances - chosen at random - were all repeats of styles they had done before.

By night’s end:

  • Jason Taylor got a 28 for his Foxtrot (formerly 22) and a 27 for his Paso Doble (26).  Total = 55.
  • Cristián de la Fuente was coincidentally assigned the same two performances he attempted the night of his injury.  Despite horrible flashbacks, he earned a 27 for his Viennese Waltz (25) and a 29 for his Samba (21).  His total of 56 topped the Miami Dolphin.
  • Underdog Marissa Jaret Winokur scored a 26 for her Quickstep (21) and a 26 for the Rumba (25).  Total - 52.
  • Kristi Yamaguchi racked up a 28 for her Jive (down from her perfect 30) and a 29 for her Tango (27).  Her total of 57 was the best of the evening.

Dancing with the Stars, Mario, Karina Smirnoff

Yesterday’s edition of Dancing with the Stars: Season 6 turned out to be another jaw-dropping event:

  • Kristi’s Samba earned the skater another 26.  (Her first was last week.) That’s her lowest score to date.
  • Jason Taylor racked up a 23 for his interpretation of the Samba.  He hasn’t seen that number since Week 3.
  • Cristián accumulated three 10’s and finished with his best total ever.  More importantly, the injured actor somehow managed to beat both Jason and Kristi!

Dancing with the Stars, Derek Hough and Shannon Elizabeth

Last night on Dancing with the Stars: Season 6, a host of noteworthy events took place.

  • Kristi saw her first 8 ever.  (She scored a shocking 26 with her Viennese Waltz.)
  • Not only did Jason rebound with a 29 for his Quickstep, the football star ended up beating Kristi with his final total.  (He earned 55; Yamaguchi had 54.)

Why DWTS’ Derek Hough was Hospitalized

DescriptionIf you watched last night’s broadcast of Dancing with the Stars: Season 6, you may have wondered about a comment host Samantha Harris made backstage.  After Shannon Elizabeth and did their Samba, it was revealed a trip to the emergency room almost kept Hough off the show.

For those keeping track, that would make two hospital visits in approximately two weeks for Julianne’s sibling.

Before last week’s show, Derek tweaked his neck while rehearsing for a routine that didn’t involve his celebrity partner.  Unsure if he was going to be able to continue, Jonathan Roberts was asked to work with Shannon on the Viennese Waltz in the interim.  Fortunately for Elizabeth and Hough, the couple reunited in time to earn a 28 during that Monday’s show.

Dancing With The Stars: Week 10 (The Finals)

DWTS

In tonight’s finals, the three remaining competitors performed two dances each: a style the judges wanted them to improve and the highly-anticipated freestyle dance.  Read on to see how they fared:

MELANIE BROWN (partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy)
(Dance: Cha-cha-cha/ Song: ‘Car Wash’)
Mel’s Princess Leia-esque outfit is bound to get a few extra votes tonight.  We now know that her baby weight is officially gone.  This was a great style for them to revisit; it gave Melanie a chance to show off her improved skills - and great hip action.

Despite a few ‘funny bits’, Len said the dance was clean, crisp and precise.  Bruno thought the dance had a stunning visual impact.  Carrie Ann said she was hoping for just a ‘hair more’ excitement.  Score: 9/9/10 (28)

MARIE OSMOND (partner Jonathan Roberts)
(Dance: Samba/ Song: ‘Chica Chica Boom Chic’)
Her teased hair and yellow dress looked great - unfortunately, her dance left a lot to be desired.  Once again, she filled the performance with a bunch of distracting theatrics instead of actual dancing.

Bruno said the dance, though entertaining, was not technically Marie’s best.  Carrie Ann thought the performance highlighted Marie’s limited range.  Len said as far as entertainment, Marie is second to none.  Score: 8/8/8 (24)
