Melissa McCarthy to Host ‘SNL’

Melissa McCarthyMelissa McCarthy will host Saturday Night Live for the second time on April 6.

The Identity Thief star - whose weight recently came under fire by a US movie critic - will return to present the NBC comedy sketch show for the second time in two years after winning rave reviews for her series debut in October 2011.

The 42-year-old Emmy-winning actress - who began her career doing sketch comedy with the Los Angeles improv troupe Groundlings - previously reunited with her Bridesmaids co-star Kristen Wiig on the show for a hilarious skit about an inappropriate office worker who sexually harasses a co-worker played by Jason Sudeikis.

Melissa has kept a relatively low profile since veteran film critic Rex Reed trashed her role in Identity Thief last month calling her "cacophonous" and "tractor-sized" and blasting her as "a gimmick comedian who has devoted her short career to being obese and obnoxious with equal success."

Andy Samberg Won’t Be Returning to SNL

Andy SambergFirst Kristen Wiig, and now this?!

After rumors of his departure and the premiere of "Lazy Sunday 2," (with lyrics like "On these New York streets I hone my fake rap penmanship / That’s how it began, and that’s how I’m-a finish it," could it be any more obvious?), Andy Samberg has confirmed that he will not be returning as a cast member on Saturday Night Live next season.

“It’s an incredibly emotional and strange moment in my life. Obviously it’s not a huge shock, but I did officially decide not to come back," he said.

While Samberg claims that it was "one of the hardest decisions [he's] ever made," he revealed that he had some help from fellow cast member Wiig: "She kept saying it just feels like it’s her time. I connect with that. Something about it just feels like it’s the moment. My contract’s up and I did so much more than I ever thought I would ever even do."

Michael Lohan: Lindsay Was on Drugs on SNL

Lindsay LohanLindsay Lohan's disastrous Saturday Night Live performance was due to prescription drugs, her father has claimed.

Michael Lohan claims the troubled actress is no longer taking any illegal substances but says medicine provided by her doctors prevented her from showing her true acting ability when she performed on the comedy sketch show in March. However, Michael insists he convinced her to stop taking prescription medication ahead of her recent Glee cameo and believes she is now once again showing her potential.

"I have to say this...on SNL, Lindsay was not using any illicit drugs or drinking but she still is on prescription drugs that they gave her. And the meds that they give her are meds that they say she needs, but she doesn't need them. But they kind of make her flat. She's not acting at a full potential. It's like the screen is down over her. And now when she did Glee I said, 'Linds, get off the damn medication and let people see who you really are.' And for a couple days before Glee, she went off this stuff. And there were tears in my eyes when I watched Glee. THAT was Lindsay. Yeah that was her acting. That is Lindsay Lohan at the Parent Trap, Freaky Friday and Mean Girls potential. That is what she was."

Kristen Wiig Leaves SNL?

Kristen WiigKristen Wiig held back tears as she made what is believed to be her last appearance on Saturday Night Live this past weekend.

The final sketch during the season finale saw the actress - who has been a cast member on the show for seven years - don a cap and gown with guest host Mick Jagger acting as high school principal during a graduation scene. Kristen's character was singled out as "one particular student who is leaving this summer," and she then danced with the Rolling Stones rocker, executive producer Lorne Michaels and other cast members to the group's hit "She's a Rainbow."

Kristen then struggled to keep her emotions in check as the show's full ensemble, including Amy Poehler and Jon Hamm, appeared to sing "Ruby Tuesday, which features the line :Still I'm gonna miss you."

Network NBC have not made any official announcement about Kristen leaving the show, or commented on the rumors that Jason Sudeikis and Andy Samberg are also departing as program regulars.
