Mark Your Calendars: Lost, Chuck Return Soon
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Comedy, Drama, Prime Time, Sci-Fi/Horror, ABC, NBC, Lost, News
Christmas may end on December 26th, but we still have things to look forward to in early 2010.
Shortly after New Year’s, Chuck will make its return to NBC. The show - which was recently saved by a strong fan base - will kick off with a two-hour premiere on Sunday, January 10. It will then slide into its normal Monday/8:00 time slot the very next day (January 11). This assignment means Heroes will then be pushed into the 9:00 position.
Less than a month later, Lost will debut its final season. The ABC drama will have a three-hour event on Tuesday, February 2nd before settling into its Tuesday/9:00 time slot on February 9.

Ugly Betty Replaces Motherhood, Samantha Early
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Comedy, Prime Time, ABC

UPDATE: Samantha Who? and In the Motherhood are officially over for the season. A Grey’s repeat will fill the 8:00 time slot this week.
Weeks after being displaced from its time slot, Ugly Betty is coming back to take its place. Early.
Hello, May sweeps!
ABC has just announced that the series will pick up where it left off beginning April 30. That’s one week before it was previously slated to return. It’s also the date Samantha Who? and In the Motherhood had been scheduled to air their finales.
So what does this mean for the pair of comedies? Maybe the network can find some more space on its Saturday night calendar?

There’s nothing like a single dad to get things all messed up.
After delaying Samantha Who‘s January return for several weeks (expanded versions of The Bachelor have been doing quite well), ABC has decided to scratch their original midseason plans and start anew. Instead of putting Christina Applegate on hold, they have chosen to give America Ferrera a short vacation.

- Prison Break (FOX, 9pm): “Michael and Linc happen upon T-Bag by chance.” Seriously, by chance? That’s like saying I just stopped watching this show…by chance.
- I Want to Work for Diddy (VH1, 9pm): “The teams must each throw a party that meets the high standards of a Diddy event, attending to such details as theme, decor, signature cocktails and guest list.” How would they know how to throw a Diddy event if they’ve never been invited to a Diddy event?
- Luke’s Parental Advisory (VH1, 10:30pm): “Luke tells Lacresha and Luther Jr. that they have a 2-year-old half brother. Later, he tries to bond with the child during a weekend visit.” What would we do without television cameras to record special family moments like these?

Let the Arguments Begin: Debate Schedule Released
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Prime Time, Reality, Specials, CBS, PBS, Features

Both sides have met, looked over their schedules, and finally come to a conclusion. That’s right, America’s two greatest political parties have at long last worked together to reach a decision: after weeks and weeks, they’ve finally agreed to a schedule for the Presidential and Vice Presidential debates.
The interrogation begins in September. The 26th of the month, to be precise, the first Presidential debate will take place in Oxford, Mississippi at the University of Mississippi. You can view the arguments on PBS, as the event will be moderated by Jim Lehrer (The NewsHour). The time is scheduled for talk on foreign policy and national security, i.e. the war in Iraq.
October 2 will see the Vice Presidential debates, which I fully expect will score record ratings this year. This takes place in St. Louis, Missouri at Washington University and can also be viewed on PBS. The moderator is Gwen Ifill, also of The NewsHour.

Writers Strike: Changes For ‘24’ and ‘Prison Break’
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Action, Drama, Prime Time, FOX, 24, Prison Break, News
The writers strike will obviously be doing a number to all the network schedules. Here are two big highlights announced today by FOX:
Not wanting to interrupt 24 only halfway through its day, the execs have decided to delay its premiere altogether. Season 7 had been scheduled to start Jan. 13/14; now the debut is on indefinite hold. If nothing else, maybe this will allow Kiefer Sutherland to serve his entire jail sentence all at once.
Speaking of jail, the boys at Prison Break will now be returning to the airwaves sooner than expected. The show was originally slated to end its fall run on Dec. 17th and return April 14th; it will now start its Christmas break after Nov. 12’s episode then return on Jan. 14th.
