This Week on TV (1/12-1/18)

Big Love

(You can view TV Envy’s Midseason Programming Schedule here.)

MONDAY 1/12)

  • 24 (FOX, 8pm):  “Jack is released from his Senate subcommittee hearing to help with the domestic threat and the investigation into former colleague Tony Almeida.” I can’t imagine what he would do to just to get out of jury duty.
  • Kyle XY (ABC Family, 9pm):  Season 3 premiere. “Lori, Declan, Josh and Andy deal with the choices they made at the prom.” Whatever happens at prom, stays at prom.
  • Man vs. Wild (Discovery, 10pm):  “An adventure in the jungles of Belize has the host reckoning with a 9-foot boa constrictor and a dangerous white-water river.” The longer the snake, the more skin to pee in.

Watch Showtime Premieres Without a Subscription

Toni Collette in The United States of Tara

Still deciding whether to renew your Showtime subscription? Maybe some free previews will help.

On Thursday, January 8th, Netflix will offer advanced access to United States of Tara. The series - which won’t officially debut until January 18 - lists Steven Spielberg and as two of the program’s executive producers. Cody (Juno) also penned the show’s pilot.

Tara tells the story of a woman () with dissociative identity disorder (a.k.a. multiple personalities). John Corbett (Sex and the City), Brie Larson and Keir Gilchrist play the family members who must deal with the appearances of the “provocative teenager,” the “gun-toting Vietnam vet” and the “Betty Crocker homemaker.”

This Week on TV (6/16-6/22)

Weeds' Mary Louise Parker

(You can view TV Envy’s Summer Television Programming Schedule here.)

MONDAY (6/16)

  • The Bachelorette: DeAnna Tells All (ABC, 8pm):  “With six bachelors remaining, assesses the competition to win her heart so far, as do her six beaus.” Apparently revealing their boxers just hasn’t told her enough.
  • Weeds (Showtime, 10pm):  Season premiere. “Nancy, Andy and the boys, on the run after she set fire to their house, head to the beach and a ‘heartwarming family reunion’ with Judah’s grandmother.” Had I known this show was only 30-minutes long, I could have caught up a long time ago!
  • The Mole (ABC, 10pm):  “The contestants, clad in nothing but their underwear, hit the streets of Santiago, Chile and solicit clothing.” At this point, the show could probably use a little skin to ramp interest up a bit.
  • Secret Diary of a Call Girl (Showtime, 10:30pm):  Series premiere. “A high-priced London escort entertains a middle-aged client who enjoys role-playing and has a penchant for being down on the farm.” I think that summary says it all.
