‘American Idol’ Says No to Britney Spears
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Music, Prime Time, Reality, FOX, American Idol, Gossip,
The upcoming season of American Idol promises a few changes and some never-before-seen additions to the show, but pop princess Britney Spears will not be one of them.
The show’s executive producer announced earlier this week that he does not believe Spears is in good enough condition to be a mentor to the aspiring hopefuls on Idol. “I think she needs to get herself together,” said executive producer Lythgoe. He did say, however, that he would have welcomed Spears on the FOX show last season, when it seemed she might be getting herself (and her career, and her personal life) back together again.
If the Idol hopefuls could command media attention the way Spears does, they wouldn’t need reality TV.

So who cares if no one will be in attendance, the Golden Globe nominations must go on! (If the ceremony continues on as planned, it will air Sunday, January 13th on NBC.)
Here are the most notable omissions/additions in this year’s list of television honorees:
- Damages and Longford led the pack with 4 nominations each.
- James Gandolfini and The Sopranos were both left out of the races (though Edie Falco did get a nod).
- Three of the nominees for best TV Comedy (Entourage, Extras, Californation) came from pay-cable networks.
- Past faves (Desperates Housewives, Heroes, Ugly Betty) were nowhere to be found. (Though America Ferrera did earn a nod for her individual achievement.)
- HBO led the networks with 18 nominations; ABC was second with 11.

Reality Show Predictions Revisited
Posted by David L. Williams Categories: Music, Prime Time, Reality, ABC, Bravo, Cable, CBS, FOX, The CW, Amazing Race, The, America’s Next Top Model, Dancing With The Stars, Survivor, Editorial,
So evidently I’m really bad at predicting the outcomes of reality shows (which, I know, already happened). I mean, really exceptionally bad. Now, I could have just buried my predictions from two weeks ago, but a man has to face his failures, so here we go. (Oh, and blahblahblahSPOILERALERTblahblahblah.)
THE AMAZING RACE:
Just a few weeks in, and one of my finalists is already gone. Not only was I wrong about Lorena & Jason being one of the three final teams, I was also wrong about them not annoying me yet. Lorena’s camel-milking meltdown (and how often did you read that phrase?) was incredibly entertaining and also horribly, cripplingly annoying. Still, Azaria & Hendekea are running strong and maybe I’ll be right about who ultimately gets to hang out with Phil at the finish line. But most likely not.
AMERICA’S NEXT TOP MODEL:
My pick, Heather, was in the Bottom Two last week. She’s still in it, but her not-great public speaking skills mean she may not be long for this competition.

Sabrina Bryan Confirms ‘Dancing With The Stars’ Romance
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Prime Time, Reality, ABC, Dancing With The Stars, Gossip, Rumors,
Let’s just call it the worst-kept secret since Jennifer Lopez’s pregnancy.
On last week’s elimination show, Dancing With The Stars viewers heard Sabrina Bryan drop the words ‘love’ and ‘baby’ when referring to partner Mark Ballas. The audience also witnessed a suspiciously tight embrace when the did their final dance. And while anyone could have smelled a romance a mile away, Sabrina and Mark spent the whole week dodging coupledom questions (while holding hands) on the various talk shows. Thankfully, TV Guide has ferreted out the truth putting the rumors to rest once and for all: Sabrina and Mark are dating!!!
Now can I go back to being Cheetah Girl-ignorant again?

Dancing With The Stars: Week 6
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Prime Time, Reality, ABC, Dancing With The Stars, Editorial, Features,
Tonight the competitors had to perform two dances: a style they’ve never performed before and a group dance number. Read on to see how they fared:
SABRINA BRYAN (partner Mark Ballas)
(Dance: Foxtrot/ Song: ‘I’m a Woman’)
I think her hair’s been needing this updo; it brings a new level of maturity to her look. Although I believe she’s had a couple of missteps, she’s doing quite well. Her arms and lines look great and she’s really covering the floor. Although Len thought her performance was excellent, he felt she still needed a bit more contrast throughout her dance. He said it was too powerful. Bruno said she still needed to work on finessing her dance. He also noticed that her foot got caught. Carrie Ann disagreed with the two other men; she thought the dance was feisty and smooth. Score: 9/8/8 (25)
JENNIE GARTH (partner Derek Hough)
(Dance: Mambo/ Song: ‘Mambo Baby’)
She almost looks like a Chiquita girl; she’s very fun and flirty tonight. And I love all those tricks she and Derek have choregraphed into their dance! Bruno said she brought steam and heat to the floor. Carrie Ann thought she finally unveiled herself tonight and let it all hang out. Len said it was an exceptional performance. Score: 9/9/9 (27)

Prejudging the Newest Amazing Racers
Posted by David L. Williams Categories: Prime Time, Reality, CBS, Amazing Race, The, Editorial, Features,
Sorry, Viva Laughlin, but I couldn’t be more excited that The Amazing Race is back. It is my favorite reality show and (full disclosure) the only one for which I’ve ever made an audition tape. Remember me from that one season? No, you don’t, because I was never chosen. But, even though I was snubbed by the show, I still love it, and as the premiere draws near, I thought I’d take a moment to judge several books by their covers and give you my initial thoughts on the newest crop of racers and how much I want them to win.
