Daytime Dish: Vincent Pastore Comes to General Hospital

Vincent PastoreIf you’re still trying to recover from the loss of , you might be able to satisfy some of your mobster cravings with a little General Hospital. Later this fall, Port Charles will welcoming one more criminal into its borders. Actor will be transitioning from his years in New Jersey to become the latest gangster in the New York town.

Vincent will play Maximus Giambetti, a mobster whose two sons, Max and Milo, currently work for Sonny Corinthos. He comes into town mistakenly believing Max Jr. is the head of operations in the area. He will then, of course, find out that his boys are only bodyguards. (I envision some tasty scenes with Diane trying to defend her loyal beau.)

Look for Pastore to enter the scene in October.

Young and the Restless Reigns Over Daytime TV

The Young and the Restless, Victor NewmanAnd I thought Today‘s dominance over was a long one.

At the end of this month, CBS’ Young and the Restless will celebrate a long 35 years on air.  Although that milestone has been reached by several other dramas, Y&R has achieved something not many can brag about:  It’s been the #1 program for 1000 weeks in a row.

The long-running soap opera passed that amazing marker at the end of February.  For those who would like to be spared the math - that means the serial has been tops for over 19 years.  ( has been whopping GMA‘s butt for only 12+ years.)  The program first hit #1 back in December 1988.  (For a historical reference, that was the same month Libyan terrorists blew up Pan Am Flight 103.)

‘Dancing With The Stars’ Lineup Announced

Dancing With the StarsThe official lineup for ‘s was announced this morning on .  And despite the ‘leaked’ list you might have heard about this week, here is the correct list as presented by Apolo Ohno, and host Tom Bergeron:

  • Melanie Brown (a.k.a. ‘Scary Spice’) - Baby momma of Eddie Murphy’s latest child.
  • Sabrina Bryan - ‘Cheetah’ girl (I don’t want to know what that means).
  • Jennie Garth - 90210 alum #12 (if you include Ian Ziering from last season)
  • Josie Maran - The supermodel of the female contestants.  I’m already voting against her.
  • Marie Osmond - She’s a little bit country.
  • Jane Seymour - Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman
  • Helio Castroneves - He’s going to drive his partner all over the dance floor.
  • Mark Cuban - If he doesn’t win, he’ll probably just buy the network.
  • Cameron Mathison - A soap star from All My Children.  As if ABC needed more publicity.
  • Wayne Newton - Mr. Las Vegas will have to learn how to share a stage.
  • Floyd Mayweather, Jr. - Apparently the producers felt all boxers could dance.
  • Albert Reed - I hear he’s a model as well.  I approve of this one.
