UPDATE: The victim has since been identified as Paula Goodspeed, a 30-year-old who once auditioned for Season 5. It appears she may have died from a drug overdose.
“I am deeply shocked and saddened by what transpired yesterday,” Paula Abdul made the statement to E! News in response to the headlines of the day. “My heart and prayers go out to her family.”
“Her” is an Abdul fan who tragically killed herself outside the American Idol star’s California home. The body was discovered by police around six in the evening yesterday, on swanky Beverly Ridge Drive. According to authorities, she is the victim of an apparent suicide.
The thirty-something woman’s identity has not yet been revealed, though Captain Ross Bonfiglio of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department stated, “She has a history of mental illness.” She’d been reported missing approximately three hours prior to her discovery.

Paradise Hotel 2: Nathan Sent Home
Posted by Jacci Lewis Categories: Late Night, Prime Time, Reality, Cable, FOX, Editorial
Paradise Hotel: 2: Episode 4 offered yet more proof that there is nothing more annoying than being around drunk people when you are stone-cold sober.
The only real headline from the show is that Nathan Clutter was sent home by the maneuvering of new hotel guest Johnny. Johnny said Nate’s desire to spend time alone, read and be respectful to women just didn’t fit in with the loud, obnoxious, drunk, morally bankrupt group. (Nathan Clutter jumped to his death from a Texas cell phone tower less than a month after taping of Paradise Hotel 2 ended. His family believes he was suffering from an undiagnosed mental disorder. The show had a brief tribute to Clutter at the end.)
This episode began with a reminder that Mike, the 25-year-old Phoenix real estate buyer, and Tanya, the 25-year-old San Diego public relations worker, had sex the night before, a fact she admitted to freely at the women’s breakfast the next morning. She and Mike both decided to euphemistically refer to most of what they did as “finger painting”. That annoying term would come up again and again in this episode.

‘Desperate Housewives’ In Need of New Drama

Suicide. Homicide. A parade of death. It’s what made Desperate Housewives must-watch TV…but is the dramatic series losing it’s former magic?
Season 4 has been unimpressive, and most of the Housewives buzz has died down as affairs continue, lies flourish, and no main characters have suffered deadly circumstances. Should the producers kill off a main character just to spice it up a bit? The series has settled into a frightening comfort zone where fans know the central female unit will remain unchanged; a plot-spoiler and one big ho-hum for a show that started out with such intensity. Surprise us, already.

Is Britney Spears in Danger?
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Music, Talent, Gossip, Rumors

Dr. Drew Pinsky of Loveline fame expressed concern for Britney Spears. No big surprise – a lot of people seem concerned about Spears (and whether she’ll force us to sit through another live performance). But in Dr. Drew’s case, his worry is genuine and heartfelt. Picture a woman who suffers a terrible divorce, highly stressful career, possible postpartum depression, and tons of flak from the media. You’re looking at Britney Spears. Now, Brit’s babies (Sean Preston and Jayden James) have been taken away from her in a court custody ruling which Kevin Federline won. Dr. Drew believes Brit could become suicidal as a result of the ruling, which comes on top of her other troubles, a thought that doesn’t seem so far-fetched in the wake of Brit’s recent behavior.

Investigating Chris Benoit Tragedy
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Talent, Gossip, Internet, News
Authorities are still trying to piece together the events that led to Chris Benoit’s murderous rage and subsequent suicide, while World Wrestling Entertainment does their best to downplay his alleged steroid usage. DEA officials raided Benoit’s physician’s offices Wednesday, confiscating medical records. WWE owner Vince McMahon denies steroid usage among his former wrestler, saying that Benoit was tested in April and the results came back “totally negative.” Benoit strangled his 43-year-old wife in their Atlanta home Friday night, then smothered their son the next day. Benoit placed Bibles next to both bodies and sent text messages to friends on Sunday morning before hanging himself with his gym equipment. The case seemed pretty cut and dry…but there is one strange piece of evidence still left on the table. Benoit’s Wikipedia entry was updated with news of his wife’s death – more than 12 hours before police discovered the bodies. The entry has been tracked all the way to Stamford, Connecticut, the home base of the WWE, but it is unknown if the person who edited the entry is actually connected with World Wrestling Entertainment…or even in Connecticut. Chris Benoit’s text messages were sent hour after the Wikipedia page was already updated.
