MONDAY (8/24)
- Dating in the Dark (ABC, 9pm): Season finale. “In the first season closer, an ex-FBI profiler assists the contestants.” Let’s hope proper background checks were part of his services.
- The Rachel Zoe Project (Bravo, 10pm): Season premiere. “Season 2 opens with celeb stylist Rachel Zoe and her mod squad assigned to dress up five actresses for the Golden Globe awards. Meanwhile, a slumping economy affects the rich and famous when the production of couture gowns drops.” In other news: Us Weekly will devote an entire issue to dresses worn twice.
- Hoarding (A&E, 10pm): “A woman whose children were removed from her home because of her hoarding wants to clean her home so that her children can return.” Until then, she’ll manage with the few children she kept hidden underneath the clothes.
- Nurse Jackie (Showtime, 10:30pm): “The movie reviewer awakens from his coma to find that his critical senses have been radically altered.” Fortunately, his ability to sniff out crap was insured by Lloyd’s of London.

- Jon & Kate Plus Eight (TLC, 9pm): Jon & Kate make some life-changing decisions. Well, Kate technically made the decision; Jon just didn’t want to argue.
- Charm School (VH1, 9pm): Season premiere. “Former contestants from VH1 reality shows work for charity (and a chance to win $100,000).” No good deed comes without incentives.
- Make It or Break It (ABC Family, 9pm): Series premiere. “In this drama focusing on the lives of teen gymnasts who strive to make it to the Olympics, new girl Emily Kmetko begins training alongside veterans who are both impressed with and threatened by her.” This could bring a whole new definition to the term “punch front.”
- Run’s House (MTV, 10pm): “The family rallies around JoJo after he’s charged with marijuana possession.” This whole time they had a connection within the home.

Real World Packs Bags for Washington D.C.
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Prime Time, Reality, Cable, MTV
A few weeks ago I said the Real Housewives franchise was coming dangerously close to becoming the next Real World. Who knew it was actually the other way around?
Weeks before the launch of Season 22, the producers of the MTV series announced their newest destination: Washington, D.C. That’s the same location Housewives will be hitting up next. Has President Obama started a trend?
“Young people have never been more engaged in what’s happening in this country and Washington, D.C., is the perfect place for The Real World cast to express their opinions and pursue their passions,” executive producer Jonathan Murray said in a statement.
Look for the nation’s capital edition to debut sometime in 2010. Meanwhile, Real World: Cancun premieres on June 24.

- Two and a Half Men (CBS, 9pm): “Charlie blows off steam by sharing a drunken night with Alan, Herb and his neighbor after Chelsea discovers nude photos of another woman on his cell phone.” Kinda makes you wonder what Denise Richards has on her ex.

- Gossip Girl (CW, 8pm): “Lily and Rufus make lists of their past lovers.” I think even Gossip Girl would qualify that as TMI.
- Animal Cops: Phoenix (Animal, 10pm): “A skunk gets trapped in an elevator shaft.” Well that stinks.
- Table for 12 (TLC, 10pm): Series premiere. “Betty Hayes, mother of three sets of multiples (twins, twins, sextuplets), is sent to the spa on her birthday, while the rest of the family plans a special celebration at home.” Great. More stuff for her to clean up later.

MONDAY (6/23)
- I Love the New Millennium (VH1, 10pm): “Eight-part series featuring stars reminiscing about pop culture phenomena of the new millennium begins with the year 2000.” Is it too soon to wonder what VH1 will cover in 2011?
- Legally Blonde the Musical: The Search for Elle Woods (MTV,10pm): “The ladies perform with a canine costar: Bruiser, the dog from the musical.” I had no idea Ashton Kutcher revived Punk’d.
- Psychic Kids: Children of the Paranormal (A&E, 10pm): “A 14-year-old boy, who claims to see spirits of people and animals, is introduced to siblings close to his age who supposedly have paranormal gifts.” I’m always happy when freaky kids find someone to play with.
- Weeds (Showtime, 10pm): “Celia’s hard time in county lock-up gets harder when her cellmate decides to make Celia her ‘special girl’.” Yeah - that would definitely suck.

Modeling Competition for Ages 35+
Posted by Wendy Michaels Categories: Prime Time, Reality, Cable
Now here’s a reality competition I can appreciate. You see, I’m a 30-something and… well, I feel old. It doesn’t help to see all of these young whippersnappers on television either. For example, I feel completely disconnected from the issues that plague the recent housemates on The Real World—I’m just not tuned in to what they’re going through. In fact, I’m on a different frequency altogether. So, TV Land is tapping into a new reality niche with their reality series, She’s Got the Look. Twenty female contestants over 35 years old will compete for a modeling contract with Wilhelmina Models. Plus they’ll land a photo spread in Self magazine, which is one of those “real” women kind of mags (OK, I’m a subscriber, I admit it). Supermodel Kim Alexis, who is in her 40s, hosts the series, with judging duties upheld by supermodel Beverly Johnson, Wilhelmina president Sean Patterson and Robert Verdi, celebrity stylist. TV Land president Larry Jones said of the series, “Real women in their 40s and 50s are too often overlooked in the scope of the TV landscape. TV Land’s goal is to tell the rich stories of these striking women in a fun and entertaining way.” The show is expected to air on TV Land in summer 2008.

‘Psychic Challenge’ Reality Show
Posted by Wendy Michaels Categories: Games, Reality, Cable
One of the fun things about writing this blog is the opportunity to report on all of the crazy new reality shows. Just when I think the well’s run dry on ideas, along comes another bizarre one. Case in point, Lifetime has announced America’s Psychic Challenge, brought to you by The Real World producer Bunim-Murray Productions. It’s a challenge to see who is the best psychic among a group of contestants. No, really. With events that test their psychic abilities. Each week, psychics are eliminated until the best of the bunch is left standing (and do you think that person could have predicted their win at the onset of the competition?). The winner takes home $100,000 and a contract with the Psychic Friends Hotline. Naw, I just made that last part up (the $100 grand is right though!). E! News Daily reporter John Burke is set to host. Do we have a ratings winner here? Hang on, let me look into my crystal ball… my magic 8 ball, that is. “Outlook not so good.”
