Tori & Dean: Reality TV Royalty

Tori and Dean

Last Tuesday night was a night that I had been anticipating for nine months, the season premiere of Tori & Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood on Oxygen. I can honestly say that I feel like I have known my whole life. I grew up with Donna Martin on 90210. I even thought she was hilarious as Violet on Saved By the Bell. Though I didn’t love So NoTORIous, I didn’t hate it either. She is just so… real. Last week’s season premiere episode caught us up on the lives of the McDermotts in 2009.

Little Liam is about to turn 2. Stella, the baby, is doing all the typical baby things. They have moved to yet another house. Dean is filming a television movie, and Tori is involved in about 720,000 projects, as usual. Something that is so great about this show is watching them struggle with things that normal, non-television, families deal with such as: Tori wanting to be a stay-at-home mom, but not having enough money; Dean wishing they could get their pre-parenting sex life back; and Liam being jealous of his new sister. This season promises us the drama of a motorcycle accident, a new book, an appearance on the new , Tori dealing with Dean’s on-screen romance, and of course some drama with Tori’s infamous mother Candy.

Make sure you set your DVR for Tuesday nights, you can’t miss even one episode! While you are lying by the pool, check out Tori’s new book, Mommywood. I give it 4 stars!!!

Rumor has it that Spelling refused to work with fellow Beverly Hills alum , but apparently there’s no bad blood between her and Jennie Garth. “I thank my stars for her. She’s so much fun,” Garth said of working again with Spelling.

90210: No Longer a Spelling-Free Zip?

Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Drama, Prime Time, The CW, Gossip, Rumors

Tori Spelling is rumored to be in talks, again, with the CW hit 90210. According to gossip, the producers would love to get Spelling on set to reprise her role as good girl Donna Martin, perhaps even while former cast mate Jason Priestley is directing. With Jennie Garth and Shannon Doherty on and off the set, 90210 could soon be the site of an old home week for the actors.

Spelling and CW reps have remained mum on the subject, but allegedly the minds behind want to feature Donna toward the end of the season. They are currently talking, which is always a good sign.

Tori originally to join the cast for a few episodes, but bowed out after giving birth to a new baby girl. Industry gossip says that Spelling wasn’t offered the same monetary amount as Doherty and Garth, which became the real reason Tori dropped the project.

Tori Spelling Drops Out of 90210

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Drama, Reality, Cable, The CW, News, Ratings

Tori Spelling may be willing to run her own Bed & Breakfast. She might even be willing to sell her own gourmet fries. But she apparently won’t do anything for money.

Although she was signed on to star in CW’s version of 90210, a paycheck dispute has forced the Tori & Dean star to drop out completely. This revelation comes after Spelling said she would be temporarily sitting on the bench to recover from her second pregnancy.

Earlier today, Deadline Hollywood Daily claimed the actress was actually holding out because of less than equal treatment. When Tori learned that her $10,000-$20,000 per episode number fell far below what Jennie Garth and Shannen Doherty were being offered (reportedly between $35,000-$50,000 per episode), she walked away.

Now the 35-year-old’s rep has confirmed to Us Magazine that Donna Martin won’t be seen anytime soon. “At this time, there are no plans for Tori to appear in the spinoff.”

I guess the record ratings Tori & Dean have been bringing to Oxygen aren’t really needed on the CW?

It’s Official: Shannen Doherty Joins 90210

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Drama, Prime Time, The CW, News

Shannen DohertyNow that we’ve had a few weeks to get used to the idea, it’s time for us to fully accept it. Brenda Walsh is coming back.

Just this weekend, CW confirmed that Shannen Doherty is returning to the zip she was once famously booted out of. In the announcement, we learned that Doherty will come back to West Beverly after she is asked to guest direct a school play.

Those who recall her stint in ‘Cat on a Hot Tin Roof’ may be surprised to learn that Brenda’s character has since become a “successful theater actress, splitting her time between London and New York.” So successful, in fact, that she has already moved on to directing her own productions. (Hence, the invite from her alma mater.)

Luke Perry, Shannen Doherty and Casting for 90210

Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Drama, The CW, Gossip, Rumors

90210

Years have passed since the show rocketed to success (and was subsequently canceled), and yet is still dominating entertainment news. If you’re longing to see some familiar faces on the fall spin-off of the popular teen series, you won’t be disappointed. If you’re hoping to see Luke Perry on the new show, you will be.

“It’s that 90210 time of year,” Perry laughed with reporters as he answered questions about the spin-off (though he was actually promoting an unrelated project with the Hallmark Channel). Luke Perry has already stated that he will not - that’s right, will not - become Dylan again on camera. According to his own comments, Perry does not really wish to do the series without mastermind Aaron Spelling, famed TV producer (and sire of Tori Spelling) who passed away in 2006.
