Monday Ratings: Heroes Can’t Rescue NBC

CBS’ repeat-filled lineup gave NBC a chance to pick up some ground yesterday. Unfortunately, the Peacock squandered its opportunity and sunk even further last night. FOX, in the meantime, seized the evening and placed first in both the viewers and the demos.

Heroes' Mohinder8pm

  • (14.6 million, 5.4/14 in 18-49) picked up 600,000.
  • special (11 million, 3.7/9) was off 1.5 million from the last regular episode.
  • * (8.4 million, 2.7/7)* lost 400,000; * (7.6 million, 2.8/7) grew by 300,000.
  • (6.5 million, 2.2/6) had its smallest audience yet.
  • * (1.1 million, 0.4/1) did about the same.

This Week on TV (2/23-3/1)

The Celebrity Apprentice 2

(You can view TV Envy’s Midseason Programming Schedule here.)

MONDAY 2/23)

  • Chuck (NBC, 8pm):  “Jeff and Lester pester Ellie to hire their music group - called Jeffster! - as her wedding band.” That’s one way to ensure the Macarena won’t be played.
  • Jon & Kate Plus 8 (TLC, 9pm):  “Jon and Kate decide to expand their family with the addition of two puppies.” Let’s not give any ideas.
  • 24 (FOX, 9pm):  “Jack and Renee walker pursue Dubaku through the streets of Washington, D.C., with a little cyber help from Chloe.” If Bauer switched to Verizon, he could have a whole network working for him.
  • True Beauty (ABC, 10pm):  Season finale. “A winner is named after an intimate interview with editor Jess Cagle tests contestants’ inner beauty and a seminude photo shoot tests their outer beauty.” The finalists will be graded on a curve and their curves.

Monday Ratings: A New Low for Chuck

Chuck‘s post-Super Bowl boost disappeared in just a matter of weeks. Back on February 2nd, the show had its largest audience of the season. Yesterday, the program hit a series low. The Bachelor, in the meantime, hit another season high last night.

The Real Housewives of NYC

MONDAY 2/16)

  • Chuck (NBC, 8pm):  “Chuck and Sarah go undercover as a happily married couple in surburbia.” A happy couple in surburbia? Isn’t the whole point to be inconspicuous?
  • Jon & Kate Plus 8 (TLC, 9pm):  “The Gosselins settle into their new home after the big move, but there’s still lots of work to be done.” And Kate will make sure Jon knows it.
  • Kyle XY (ABC Family, 9pm):  “Kyle reluctantly starts working at Latnok to repay his debt, and it’s not at all what he expects. Yet he still wants to quit, until he considers the Tragers’ current financial situation.” Back up a second—someone’s hiring?
  • True Beauty (ABC, 10pm):  “Contestants walk the red carpet with their parents, but there are also several secret tests of manners going on.” In other words, pushing mom out of your spotlight would be inadvisable.

Tuesday Ratings: CBS Inches Closer to FOX

All of a sudden, FOX is being forced to work hard for its money. Last night, new episodes of NCIS and The Mentalist put CBS within 100,000 viewers of the American Idol network. Meanwhile, an Octo-mom special had NBC tied with CBS for second place in the demos.

Survivor: Tocantins

MONDAY 2/9)
NOTE: A President Obama press conference will interfere with the previously scheduled programming.

  • The Secret Life of the American Teenager (ABC Family, 8pm):  “Ben and Amy’s relationship hits a rough patch when Ben tells her he needs some space.” The pressure of buying a Valentine’s Day gift was just too much for him.
  • One Way Out (Discovery, 9pm):  “The host braves a high-speed barrage of tennis balls and steep plunges into kiddie pools before becoming the projectile in a human catapult.” Idiotic stunts have just become more financially appealing.
  • The Girls of Hedsor Hall (MTV, 9pm):  Series premiere. “In the opener, 12 rude and crude bad girls from the U.S. enroll in a British finishing school for a chance to transform their lives and win a $100,000 trust.” The goal? To become the next or Lily Allen.
  • CSI: Miami (CBS, 10pm):  “Horatio believes that prominent defense attorney (Sean Combs) is involved in the cover-up of a murder.” Diddy doesn’t cover-up murders. That’s what his personal assistants are for.

Monday Ratings: NBC Improves, But Not By Much

Sunday’s commercials may have paid off financially for NBC, but they didn’t help much with the ratings. Despite endless ads for Monday’s programs, the lineup only showed marginal improvement. By night’s end, CBS was on top with the viewers while FOX was first place in the demos.

  • (8.4 million, 3.0/7) had its largest audience all season.
  • (2.3 million, 1.1/3) was up 700,000.

Monday Ratings: House Stops CBS’ Dominance

A change of night didn’t keep viewers from getting their House fix. The show’s move to Monday not only weakened CBS’ comedy stronghold, it provided a nice lead-in for 24. The drama combo then gave FOX wins in both the viewers and the demos.
