MONDAY (9/8)
- The Oprah Winfrey Show (Syndicated, check local listings: Season 23 premiere. Oprah kicks off her new year with over 150 Olympians. Medals, schmedals. I’m sure they’re all hoping for free cars.
- Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles (FOX, 8pm): Season 2 premiere. “Agent Ellison handles the aftermath of Cromartie’s massacre.” Now if a pool full of dead bodies doesn’t spell things out for Ellison, nothing will.
- Take Home Nanny (TLC, 8pm): “Parents of aggressive twins need help from Emma to get the kids to behave well for a dinner with a teacher at the new school they want the boys to attend next year.” After they’re accepted, the twins then become the teacher’s problem.
- Prison Break (FOX, 9pm): “Michael and his crew have one day to find the other five cardholders or they’ll go back to prison.” Yeah, yeah, yeah - been there, done that.

Preview of True Blood: HBO’s New Vampire Series
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Drama, Prime Time, Sci-Fi/Horror, Cable, HBO, Video,
In the past year, we’ve seen the fan hysteria behind Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight and the cancellation of the loved-but-not-watched series Moonlight. Now, we’ll get to see if another vampire-related project will be as successful as the former or as neglected as the latter.
Later this week, HBO will introduce the latest entry in the blood-sucking genre. In True Blood, the newest creation from writer/producer/director Alan Ball (Six Feet Under), vampires are able to co-exist with humans. A synthetic supply of the red stuff allows them to feed without necessarily needing to hunt.
After the jump, you can see the moment when Sookie Stackhouse (Oscar-winner Anna Paquin) meets 173-year-old Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer) for the very first time.

- Gossip Girl (CW, 8pm): Season 2 premiere. “Summer in the Hamptons winds down as Serena and Nate carry on a cover-up scheme to make others think they’re dating.” A few choice pics sent to Gossip Girl should do the trick.
- Prison Break (FOX, 8pm): Season 4 premiere. “Michael is in LA looking to even the score with Gretchen for Sara’s death.” I think Gretchen should really apologize for all of last season.
- One Tree Hill (CW, 9pm): Season 6 premiere. “Lucas’ chosen lady meets him at the airport, while Dan’s accident proves life-threatening.” Sorry. So not caring who Chad Michael Murray picks these days.
- Raising the Bar (TNT, 10pm): Series premiere. “Idealistic public defender Jerry Kellerman (Mark-Paul Gosselaar) fights for a man he’s sure is innocent, but holding a court is a judge who loathes Kellerman.” Gosselaar’s new hair has been generating some passionate opinions.

HBO Fills Fall Schedule
As if I didn’t have enough TV to watch during the fall season…
Earlier today, I was informed that two of my reasons to love the summer have sadly been taken away from me. Thanks to the writers’ strike, several HBO programs normally enjoyed during the off-months will now have to fight for space on my Tivo much later this year.
Shows affected by the production delay include Big Love, Entourage, Flight of the Conchords and new drama True Blood.
I’m not sure what to do with myself. I guess I might actually have to take a vacation now.

Anna Paquin Signs on for HBO Series
Posted by Wendy Michaels Categories: Drama, HBO,
Here’s one young actress who should never have a shortage of acting jobs. Anna Paquin, who started her career in the film The Piano, won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress at just 11 years old. Her roles in other films, including X-Men, have allowed viewers to watch her grow up onscreen. Now, Paquin will be coming to the small screen, in an HBO drama called True Blood. The show comes from the creator of Six Feet Under, so you can anticipate a great series. True Blood is a story of vampires, based on the book series Southern Vampire. Paquin will play Sookie Stackhouse, a mind-reading waitress. The vampires integrate into a small Louisiana town, assisted by the availability of Japanese-made synthetic blood. Paquin will also appear in HBO’s upcoming film, Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee.
